Thats pretty sweet, how does it perform in the miata?

Doppelgänger 03-08-2011 02:15 PM

This is one case where I really enjoyed the engrish..only because it's clear your mechnical skills are pretty good. Hellofa great modification and should take anything you can throw at it.

How is the gearing compared to the Miata transmission? Much longer now?

Very nice explanation. Does the gearcase contact the under body of the car anywhere?

I have my old FD transmission sitting in my garage and a 5 spd Miata trans in my basement... hmmm... weekend project?

How did you take the measurements to have the PPF line up correctly? And what about the pull clutch mechanism on the FD trans? What did you do to convert it to push, and what throw out bearing/clutch fork etc. did you use?

Nice entry post. I started to read the thread and got scared then realized that one you are from another country. Two that you managed to do in your back yard what a lot of people will not attempt in a shop with good tools. Hell of a job I hope it holds up well for you.

Why do I feel like I've read you claiming that the FD transmission is weak much like the miata transmission?

Edit: I feel like I've read this claim because I HAVE read this claim.

https://www.miataturbo.net/showpost....1&postcount=34

So whats the deal? Are these strong or not?

the felling of transmition is very good, and the upper speed with 5 gear in 7000rpm is 248Km\h is not to long the oem gearbox is 235Km\h

gianic 03-08-2011 07:34 PM

The fc and fd transmission are holding well up to 500hp.
Here are the ratios

Dogits your mechanical skills rock for real but your engreeklish are funny as hell!

Looks like the stock miata clutch system. Pretty nice how about the drive shaft? How much total labor and money. Nice build

Hot_Wheels 03-08-2011 11:06 PM
