DIY sounding pretty nice, in need of some more persuasion

For a long while ive been stuck on getting a greddy kit, with plans of upgrading enough for 100% hp increase (about 180). Then while searching around im finding that you could peace together a kit and would come out 210+ side and maybe spend less then the kit with all the upgrading. The only problem is i dont know exactly which used turbo to go after. i was thinking i could use my ct26 from my yellow supra in the pic, but after research sounds like those things are only good as a boat anchor! So give me some advice, good spool would be appreciated um iv heard t3's are a good place for the numbers im looking for. Any and all help wold be appreciated! Thanks

First things first, learn to read turbo maps. Then you can look at any turbo and make your own decisions. I liked the way t3s preformed and i definitly like their price. Mine was 80+200 for rebuild

I have a DIY set up sitting in my garage, I am waiting till after MATG to put it on! grrr what a long wait.

but my friend has a DIY and its effin FUN! so yes it will be worth it!

i had a greddy i customized and ran upto 15psi. there were a few things i didn't like about it:

the turbo sat too high in the bay.

the intercooler kit from jim b was crappy

the lag

the iffy aftermarket support and known issues.

i parted it out and went back to n/a.

the greddy isn't bad, per se, but i think when you want to get more power out of it, there are better-made systems. there are also more items to help support a modified greddy kit (like the emanage, autotune, tony down pipe, stripes i/c kit) than were available when i had mine. still, i pieced together a DIY fm2 from parts i found. i feel more confident about this system than the greddy. according to my receipts, it has also cost about the same as the modified greddy. it just took a little more patience to gather the components.

i like to wear my thong backwards. it lifts and separates my boys.

feh. it's a 2.5-3 hour drive to deal's gap for me. with all the crap i've gone through in the past month, i just want to relax and not worry about throwing the system in there and wrenching on it while on vacation. i can't turn wrenches very well with a beer or margarita in my hand. :D

Tomwa 07-20-2006 03:33 PM

Oye, the gap. seriously it should start using GAP commericials as advertisements, would be popular at M.net

kung fu jesus 07-20-2006 03:50 PM

it all about pushing the pointies up and down the mountain in a lesser-prepared car. ran last year in the honda. it's amazing how crappy most of the miata drivers are. :gay:

Fallin Blade 07-20-2006 07:21 PM

Loki How many horses are you pushing? And where can i learn to read the maps?

bripab007 07-21-2006 08:01 AM

Read Corky Bell's book(s) or go here: www.stealth316.com

Fallin Blade 07-21-2006 07:21 PM
