Ok, some semi final pics. Some things are going to change other than the coolant line that is obviously pretty ghetto. I'm going to need to re-do the hot-side charge piping. The outlet adapter is a ---- hair away from the sub frame and will certainly make contact if I really get on it at the track. Also there is a really shitty exhaust leak at the turbine outlet v-band that is going to take some serious thought. There was a little gap between the flanges that I thought I got rid of by being creative while installing it and using some ultra copper but its leaking bad so my downpipe might take some modification unfortunately.
Here are a couple of overall shots.
Clearance between compressor outlet and subframe. Going to redo the hotside with 2" piping some day before next racing season. Going to have to make a new outlet adapter somehow as well.
The downpipe is very close to the firewall as well.

Turbo hit subframe, lol. Doesn't begi cut that flange off and tig weld on an elbow? Wouldn't give you too much more room, but I bet it'd be enough. Not sure I'd worry about the dp, that looks like enough room. Or are you trying to photograph the clearance below the flat shelf?

Went out to tune the car a bit and the upper V-band is just leaking too bad right now for me to feel comfortable driving it. After a boosted pull I smelt the exhaust in the cabin. I may be crazy but it smelt a bit oily. I have a sneaking suspicion that the oil isn't draining out of the turbo correctly with its new clocked angle. Unfortunately I cant angle it anymore with the oil feed line I have right now before it hits the turbine flange...ugh.
Its back in the garage right now cooling off until I can take the downpipe off again and assess the situation on the exhaust leak and also check the turbine for oil. It runs great and pulls very very hard other than those two issues right now. Also the new addition of the torsen makes traction much improved in the rain but definitely still just spins in 1st/2nd and 3rd.
Also a heat shield is in planning now as this SS mani seems to get the hood WAY hotter than the iron Begi piece.

Someday in the future before next track season I will likely have you do that. Also i'm going to be redoing the hot-side intercooler piping with 2" so I may do it in aluminum and have you weld that too.

That's not a TiAL v-band which is why its leaking. I use the cheap "silicone intakes" v-bands on the exhaust after the DP, but you want the proper v-band flanges at the turbo inlet and outlet. They fit so precisely that you will need a third hand to get it right.

I think I just need more ultra copper and perhaps wrapping the flange joint in something before I clamp it down? I'm not ashamed to get ghetto for now so I can atleast just drive and tune my car on the street.

WTF do you think that "ultracopper" is going to do? Take it off mash the pinchers in the clamp and tighten it up again. Let me know how that works. I had to do this to my cheapo v-bands.

Abe is the one that suggested the use of the ultra-copper and I do trust his opinion. He is the one that gave me this particular v band as well and said that they will warp a little when you weld them. Warping cheap flanges is tough to avoid when welding.

Well I like Abe and have no problem leaving my car with him for fab work...but I've tried that copper stuff and it failed on 3-attempts. I don't know enough about welding to comment on the warpage because I'm dumb.

I haven't had it fail yet except for this joint. At this point it could either be horrid warpage or I just plain cant get it lined up perfectly by myself. Like you said you almost need a third hand to get it perfect. I used some blocks of wood under the tail end of the downpipe to try and get it lined up right but I think I need more accuracy than that.

So what I'm getting from this is that aside from warpage issues, v-bands don't pull themselves together very well? That kinda sucks. Someone should design a vband with a different angle, maybe that would work better.
