Default Best thread walking through the turbo build process.

Ok, My build is underway.

I'm installing some of the little misc. stuff - bipes, fmu- etc. What are the best old threads walking through the rest of the process? Showing oil/ water lines, order of install, tips and tricks, what to look out for, etc. I'm going to be ripping parts out and putting stuff in next week I hope. Would be nice to know things like - connect this line 1st since you can't reach it later - don't connect this until finished - that sort of thing.

My biggest concern is oil and water line routing and connections.

best things would be reading FM's newest installation instructions.

FM's instructions were helpful, but Braineack's FAQ was better IMO.

Brain's been a huge help. His faq is great about what it takes to turbo a car but isn't really about how to install. I'll be going through FM's instructions. Thanks for that tip. Like I said, my biggest concern is oil and water lines. Where to tap into, where to route, where to drain to, what order to hook up. BEGI has the reroute for water, am I going to run into trouble with the existing water lines? Who's got good pictures of where I tap into water and where I dump it back into the system?

There's a good picture in my FAQ actually. Basically the line from the thermostat housing goes down into a port on the waterpump outlet. Take the line and route it into the turbo and back out. That's it.

The oil line, if have a 90-94, will be off the block. I have a good shot in the build thread in the BS section.

94-05 and you'll need to tee of the port where the oil sender is.

again see my build thread for the oil return location, a few good pics there.

-----

the BEGi reroute is mainly to move the lower radiator hose. The manifold sits the turbo low and your return line and coolant hose get in the way of each other. Again, see my build thread and you can see I did the FM solution. Beside the oil return, it also relocates the line from the waterpump and the heater hose on the firewall, which sits dangerously close to the DP (especially the divorced wastegate ones).

Again, you da man Brain. Thermostat port to turbo, out of turbo and back to waterpump. Water supply is the same idea as fuel lines for the FMU. Just an out and back where the hose was running in the 1st place. Is your build thread the same as your FAQ for checking out your FM water line reroute?
