Drill and tap/bung questions
 

Looking to drill and tap my oil pan but I wanted to double check that I order the correct parts for the job. Link below looks just like my oil line kit, says it doesn't include a bung so where would I be able to order a compatible bung?

As for the drill and tap I read that the link below is commonly used, would this be the correct one for the kit? I believe its compatible but I'd like to be sure before I make a mistake that's not easily fixed.

Without knowing the NPT size, theres no way of knowing what drill and tap you need. If what you have is 3/8" NPT then that drill and tap will work.

Is there any way to check or verify the NPT size? I don't know which kit I have since I didn't buy it online but it looks exactly like the other link posted above and the other fittings are compatible with my t3 turbo.

Yes. You would check what size your bung is, in the physical dimension.

Okay, I'll double check to see if a bung was included. Dimension wise it should be 3/8 of an inch on the outlet portion of the bung?

It seems closest to 0.675 inches for the inside diameter of what I think is the bung. So it's a 3/8 NPT, I'm a bit confused about the bung though. Its got one side that looks like its supposed to stick out the oil pan that has threads but the other side has no threads or anything, it's just a 6 sided bolt pattern with a hollow center, I don't see how that's supposed to connect to the tapped oil pan but maybe I'm just not connecting these correctly.

Get a fitting that's 3/8" NPT or whatever size you want oil pan side, get a tap to match, other end of fitting -10AN. Fitting adapter/drain flange on turbo t -10AN. Run -10AN hose from turbo to fitting on oil pan, using angled hose ends if necessary.

Or use barbs and a reinforced hi tempt hose with clamps.

With the weld fitting if I can source a welder would that do the trick? Otherwise I'm not sure where to source the oil drain parts you referenced, would I have to order new drain lines and the compatible bung and fittings, if so does anyone have a link for those parts or a kit I can order that includes the whole oil return setup? Or can I just get an oil return bung that's threaded both sides that would be compatible with my return lines ? I found the following, if this is compatible with the rest of my oil return kit then I can order just that bung to go the drill and tap route? I figure if that bung threads into my kit then it should be compatible and I can go ahead and order the drill and tap to get it started without having to order a whole new drain setup. Please advise, thank you!

If you have -10AN lines, you can drill/tap your pan for that fitting you linked.

If you don't, then you need to buy fittings/parts that work for your intended use/application/parts/wallet/etc.

Don't take this the wrong way, but this is like suuuuuuper simple stuff. If this is hard, then turboing your car is not for you.

Okay, I'm not sure what size lines I have but if the bung I linked ends up connecting to the rest of the of my kit then I should be good to go in terms of -10AN line compatibility? If that's the case then I can go ahead and order the bung, verify it's compatible with the rest of my kit and then order the corresponding drill/tap for it. This is my first turbo build, didn't know much about it when I started but I'm fairly close to getting it back together and on the road.

My suggestion: If you want AN lines for your drain, then use -10AN. So what i'm saying is... order that bung and the bit/tap you need to use it. And if what you have isn't -10, then get -10 stuff. :)

Okay I see, Ill go ahead and do that. Hopefully my lines are -10AN so I can proceed once those parts are in.
