Drilling out the turbine housings flange

Hi guys I'm currently installing my turbo and in my infinite wisdom I sent my manifold to corky to get worked on (he did a great job!) and the manifold looked to have already been drilledto fit a 10mm stud. I assembled the manifold and mounted it on the car, then I went to put the turbo on and noticed the holes for the studs were too small and despite the manifold being drilled for 10mm they accepted 8mm stude

No machine shops are open during the weekend so I'm kinda screwed. Can I just take this to a buddy with a drill press, or use a hand drill, should I just wait until monday? I'm trying to not screw up my turbine housing.

Any help is appreciated and I'm already prepping my flame suit.

Clamp it down well on the drill press, use alot of cutting fluid or you'll burn the drill bit very very quickly, and go slow with it.

If you have a way to hold it and don't mind taking your time you could do it with a hand drill. It's going to suck either way. Lots of patience and cutting fluid will get he job done. If you don't have a fresh drill bit or two for the job i suggest buying brand new ones.

We used a hand drill on mine took a whole 5min. Just make sure to thoroughly clean up any and all metal shavings.

+1 on hand drill. While you are in there, helicoil that bish.

Why helicoil the turbine housing when he is trying to fit a larger stud?

There is nothing to helicoil, it will be a through hole. His manifold has already been drilled and tapped for 10mm studs.

Get a hard metal bit. It took me no time at all to do mine with a hand drill.

I used a bridgeport with an angle plate and drilled mine that way,the importnat part is to insure that the drill is square on both axis before drilling.Of course be sure that you leave no chips in the housing...Blow it out with air-then run it through your dish washer 2x...just dont get caught doing that.

Thanks for the advice guys, as it turns out I have two friends with drill presses so I'm going to go get set up now.
