I'm thinking the 1.6 will be fine up to 10-12 psi. OP should try it and let us know how it goes.

True, but if you mod your 1.6 ecu with a chip off ebay it works the same.

Clos561 06-06-2013 07:10 PM

stock ecu is good for 10psi from a gt3076

Damnit I always forget about ebay. That damn website would have saved me so much money if I would have just bought everything off there.

Two ecus = double fuel

Is this what they mean by piggy back fuel management? Wiring two stock ECUs in series to double the fuel?

kodirat 06-06-2013 11:17 PM

This is amusing haha

OP have you heard of E-cool you might want to check it out

AdoboMiata 06-09-2013 08:13 PM

Whatever it is do not run boost without a standalone, bipes, etc. You will fuck shit up. I should know..

Bitch your birth certificate must be an apology letter from the condom factory.

I have never turbo'd a miata, however I have plenty of other cars. I had a 1987 Turbo Coupe I ran 28 psi in with a 1:1 fuel pressure reg. and a stock ECU fooled by a couple potentiometers ..... oh yeah all force fed by a giant t-4 EBAY TURBO!? I'll admit I broke the turbo, but it was after much abuse on my part. Honestly, I had a harder time keeping that engine from "popping" head gaskets from the large amount of boost than tuning it. This is not for the faint of heart, as it requires constant fiddling, and will never run correctly.
The dicks are right, unless you don't mind blowing up an engine, or two, you should probably not drive it at all. I plan to buy a MS2 before ever even a single turbo part, tune her up with out the air meter and get some info piled for the turbo swap. The part where you put the turbo on is easy, just twisting bolts and running oil lines. Tuning is where you are really going to grind your teeth and pull your hair out.
Not that turbo'ing w/o tuning doesn't dance trhough my dreams at night. Check out this video, this guy clearly states he ran 5 psi with the stock ecu. He seems like he owns and tunes several turbo cars. He is a giant dork but watch the first few min of the video and you will see.

Yeah, with an FPR. That doesn't count.

Please, by all means destroy your miata... so that mine becomes worth more money in the future.

psiturbo 06-18-2013 10:10 PM

Matt and Torch, uiiiii!

Alejo_NIN 06-19-2013 09:19 AM

lol, you guys are so harsh..

i can see you boosting 5 psi (ok, can you evenb boost 5 psi on that turbo? is the wastegate set to 5 psi, how are you accomplishing this)
now, if you finally figure out the 5 psi thing, the next thing is NEVER GO ON BOOST, EVER

that's the safest way of running a tubro without tuning.

no, you could try and estimate how much more fuel you need and inject in somehow...beats why the fuck you have a Wideband, but i'm glad you do...a small step in the right direction..
now, i'm guessing no tuning because you spent all your hard earned money mowing lawns around you neighborhood to buy that 200$ turbo kit that you put together with duct tape...but that was your first mistake...wherever the hell it was you read that turbo cars are cheap lied to you...

the safest way to run 5 psi, is DON'T

park your car, go read some more...and come back

and by the looks of it, have someone who knows about turbos to look at your setup, i wouldn't be surprised if you had the turbo installed backwards...

kodirat 06-19-2013 09:54 AM

Haha I'm not a ruhtard, this is not my
First turbo'd car.. just the first turbo'd miata. it's not a $200 turbo kit I'm using a legit garrett turbo not some Chinese eBay turbo. The only things eBay were the cast iron manifold and down pipe. I realize these wont last forever, but the car honestly barely gets driven anyway, when they crack... I'll re-weld for now.

The whole reason I made the post is because I don't want to east money on fpr's and what not when I'm just going to get megasquirt soon. I've seen some guys around the Internet claiming to be running with no tunes or anything so I figured I'd ask.

Alejo_NIN 06-19-2013 10:02 AM

i've sen running with no tunes as well, on 19psi on stock motors
all you need is a FLAPPER AFM (air flow meter) from a RX7, crack open the case, and change the values to make the mixture richer..

Braineack 06-19-2013 10:50 AM

I would have no issues running 5psi with stock injectors, stock ECU, with the addition of an FMU of some sorts and a little ignition retard, I would be enjoying 140rwhp all day long while you assholes sit here and debate it.

I need quantity or quality at a minimum to enjoy something.

Your scenario offers neither.
