Ebay IC for 2001

I know there are some threads on this already, but I have a more specific question. I was wondering, what kind of size IC have you NBers put in w/ PS and AC? I will be using the new FM silicone piping. Jayc used this as shown here. His IC is 28" end to end and he had to cut six inches off the FM piping. He has a 93 though.

Anyone know the size of the new FM Intercooler?

BEGi IC Sizes:
#1 - 3.0 x 6.3 x 18"

#2 - 3.0 x 7.6 x 18" 295 rwhp

#3 - 3.0 x 9.0 x 18" 350 rwhp

So any size recommendations are welcome.

the begi ICs will fit with AC and PS on a 2001.

I know. However, I was wondering what other sizes would (wider and taller).

Ebay intercoolers really suck IMO. They are cheaper because the cores have absolutely no turbulators in them. This means low back pressure, but low cooling as well.

i think it's a 28x7x2.5 (endtank width, not core)

anyone that was at the NE dyno day with a "REAL" intercooler(not chinacooler) wanna post there IAT readings so as to compare with my eBay special? I am seriously curious.

I'll go first:

Run 1: 297hp, 14-15psi, ambient temp: 61F, 99F
Run 2: 299hp, 14-15psi, ambient temp: 62F, 98F
Run 3: 300hp, 14-15psi, ambient temp: 65F, 97F
Run 4: 246hp, 9psi, ambient temp: 65F, 89F

As you can see from the numbers the car was heat soaked while sitting outside idling before I put her on the dyno. Driving on the street I see 10-15F above ambient after boosting usually.

Begi #2 IC (bar + plate)

Run 1: 230hp, 9.5 psi, 63.3F, 89.6F
Run 2: 232hp, 9.5 psi, 64.5F, 87.8F
Run 3: 194hp, 9.5 psi, 62.3F, 91.4F
Run 4: 243hp, 9.5 psi, 62.6F, 86.0F
Run 5: 207hp, 9.5 psi, 63.5F, 89.6F
Run 6: 247hp, 9.5 psi, 69.1F, 87.8F

I had fun with my VVT is why there's a 46hp spread. :)

Also, I had heatsoak all over the place too. At idle, I'd gain 10F just sitting on the dyno. It would drop back down as I was spinning up in low gears. Minimum temps just before boosting were around 70F on the dyno.

Yup, complete crap.

my $80 11x12x3 core eBay intercooler sucked. 20°F delta at 13psi. FTL.

looking at datalog, on a 90°F day, i never saw more than 110°F. This was during my first EBC test logs boosting from 12-15psi.

last dyno log I can find ambient was 82°F, 12psi, MAT 97°F

My tube/fin style 18x12x3 core chinacooler worked great. I'll get info later, maybe. What is a turbulator?
