Engine Spec Questions
I guess this is my intro thread... hi :cool:
Anyways, my friend gave me this link to a calculator. It's technically a thermodynamic flow calculator used to calculate torque with certain input, but it can be used to help match a compressor to the engine using the specs of the engine and one's power goals. Calculator Link I'm wondering if anyone has the following numbers for a stock 94-95 1.8 engine: -Air Fuel Ratio -Specific Fuel Consumption -RPM: I'm not sure if it's asking for where the horsepower or torque peaks or where the redline is... -Volumetric Efficiency -Max Injector Duty Cycle |
What a waste of time....Just go off what everyone else has used and worked with...I'm using a nissan t28 turbo on my custom kit, most use t3's though.

Lol, thanks for the advice... my friend recommended I go there to find a good match, but if that's the general consensus I guess I can just skip it :D
Anyway, I'd like 200-220 whp... I'm trying to decide between a T25, T28, T3 or depending on my financial situation, a new GT2554R. I'd like to get one of the first 3 along with a BEGi mani/dp just to make things a little easier |
Do a search on here you'll find tons of info on those turbo's and similar set-ups ppl have. I have the same goal, approx 200whp, my t28 will putout just over that before it becomes too inefficient (about 220whp). Good-luck

t25 I would say about 175whp, nissan t28(off a 300zx) good for 220whp(good spool still)

No, the T25 (well, the GT2554, at least) is good for about ~225-245rwhp; there are three people on the Miataforum right off the top of my head that're running in that range with that turbo.
The T28 (or GT2560) will be good for ~275-300rwhp tops. Quite a few folks have run those right up to the brink with their FM II kits. If my goal were under 225rwhp, then go with the T25 all day long. Above that, T28. |

Oh, you must've gathered that correct information in a different thread/forum, as I was trying to correct the misinformation that dc2696 had given in this thread.

Calcs like that are :bsflag: :jerkit: They only work on theory and do not take into consideration "real world" factors (variances in parts, temp, weight, etc.)The only one that is worth a shit is the com[pression ratio calculator adn the aformula has been used since day one......

I would wholeheartedly disagree that using math to figure out how much the volume of air is that your stock engine moves in order pair it up correctly with a turbocharger is not B.S.

Alright, after speaking to a friend of mine, I'm trying to decide between a 14B and a T3. I'd like to go with the 14B as it fits my power goals, but I'm also partial to the T3 in case the power bug bites again further down the road...
Since my friend isn't very familiar with miata's he wasn't sure about this question: are the flanges for the 14B and T25 the same? I was really interested in getting the BEGi mani/dp combo for the T25 so would it fit the 14B also, since the 14B and T25 are so similar? |
When I was deciding on my turbo, I decided to err on the side of bigness. Not many people go from big to smaller turbos on their cars. ;)
A mitsubishi flanged turbo will not fit a begi mani. standard T2 or T3 only. |
