EV14 injectors- Is there a definative list of what comes what from the factory?
Is there a list of what vehicles come with the new and desireable ev14 injectors and the flow rates associated with them?
With my project I anticipate some junkyard runs and I want to find something good, will have enough flow and that i can score for dirt cheap/free. |
The highest flowing ones that I know of come from the 07-10 mustang GT500 and they're 47 lb/hr. A set of 8 new is only like $280, and good luck finding a gt500 in a junk yard.

Not all ev14's are created equal.
That's why us suckers pay premium for ID's |

That's why us suckers pay premium for ID's Im going to call BS on that one. If your injectors are flowing fuel to the cylinders and they are flowing within a reasonable variance within the same style of injector they will work just fine. This information will be good for people who arent into brand names and parts lists that just want to make power. From what I have found by the way, Ford Econoline vans are very common to have 550CC ev14's stock. The year range i cant remember off the top of my head. The reason I mention these in specific is because these vehicles are very common to get natural gas conversion and are easy to find online for relatively cheap, in brand new condition (used for about 5 miles) |
The problem is finding ones that drop right into the miata physically. Wiring is easy. Or finding a cheap source for adapter caps, getting the injectors for $30 each is great until you have to pay $40 each (made up number) for the cap/extenders. You approach a drop in set of FICs.

ev14's as a whole are small.
A set of fuel resistant grommets away from fitting into the hole. $4 As far as length...its simple to lower the fuel rail the amount you need to fit a shorter injector. $0 For those who arent familiar, my car project is going to be $2000 including the car, and it will be boosted among other custom parts. I dont have $200 let alone $400 for injectors LOL. |

Do you have any more information on this?

I'm cheap too. I'm just not a hack |
I am running 850cc Five-Os right now and they are quite awful. The dead-times they sent with them are completely off, they change behavior depending on temperature and I have a suspicion that the dead-times are even slightly different between injectors.
So OEM injectors should all do OK once they've been cleaned and flow-matched. But if you get some that have been altered by somebody in some way, you definitely get what you pay for. I wish I had paid for IDs. |
I run the 550cc EV14's from Five-O, and they perform consistent and dead time is exactly as specified- 0.5ms @ 14V.
|
Hmm. At 14.2V mine have 1.23ms. Checked by switching between 'fully sequential' ans 'semi sequential'.
|
Wasn't it reverant that tested bigger five-o's and smaller five-o's and said the ones smaller than 650 are not too bad on our cars but the larger ones are more finicky?
I mean they'll work, obviously, but not perfectly |
My dad has used many sets of five-0 injectors around 45-55lbs in a bunch of BBC engines and hasn't had any issues. Though I don't personally think their fueling needs are as precise as our engines on high boost are.
|
The issues I have with the five-Os are at idle and small loads. I'm sure the idle pulsewidths for a 550cc injector on a cylinder of 1000ccm in a BBC are a little longer than the PWs on a 850cc injector for our 460ccm cylinders.
The 850cc five-O injectors work great under load. They're good at metering lots of fuel, but not so good at a delivering a little fuel. |
That's the difference basically. Any crappy injector can flot a ton at high load, the expensive ones are the ones that idle just like or even better than stock.
My car is on ID1000's right now and idle is perfect. 14.7 all day long |
I had huge venom brand injectors in my miata for about a day back when I was a brand name guy...
To be honest, they worked fine idled fine at the same air/fuel as any other injector and made about half the noise my ID's made. |
