Will a T3 turbo work for me?

Will a T3 turbo work for me?
The guy that is supposed to get me a used turbo is having trouble finding a T25 but says he's found lots of T3's so I have an early begi 1.6 manifold is there a T3 turbo I can use with it with minimum modifications?
Interested more in quick spooling than in upper horsepower for now.

What are you relying on "a guy" for? Just go to sr20forums.com, register, and search the classifieds for one. Nobody should have trouble finding a T25. And manifolds have flanges that are specific to one turbo. Do you know what turbo the mani/DP are for? Post some pics for us if you don't know what flanges are for what kind of turbo. And I wouldn't recommend "modifying", ie. cutting and welding a new flange to a Begi manifold to fit another turbo. There are adapter brackets T2-T3, but those are universally shunned as they usually place the turbo right up against the hood or the brake reservoir and require a custom DP.
And take some pics for your vbGarage and put up a fill list of mods and the specs on the car.
Based on this post and your other one about parts leads me to the conclusion that you're in for a long and painful build process. If you've got a Begi DP/Mani for $150, then you're already about $500 ahead. First, post some pics so we can tell you what kind of turbo the Begi stuff is for.
If you'll fill out your signature and avatar with what city you live in, somebody might volunteer to come over and help you out with the clutch install... it's really no big deal. I'm telling you, DO THE CLUTCH FIRST! If you install the turbo and fry the clutch w/no money for a new one (budget $300 for parts and $400 for pro install), then you're SOL.
I'm trying to help man. I know you're on a budget, but that means it's even more important for you to do things right the first time.

The "guy" was Zebra who was selling used turbos in the classifieds. I have already paid him so I am trying to work with him and give him a chance to find what I can use if he can.
I originally just figured a T25 but then I ran accross the used Begi manifold deal and couldn't pass it up.
I have updated my vbgarage thingy and posted pics of the manifold and DP there.
There is a custom exhaust shop 8 miles from me and I have already talked to them about doing a DP if I need one.
Anyone who can help plz look at the pics and tell me what would fit. Thanks

You need to fit this onto the mani, and:
http://cgi.ebay.nl/T25-T28-GT25-GT28...QQcmdZViewItem
this to the downpipe to run a t25 (nissan) turbo , Don't think the dsm turbo's fit...

if that is the case, a t3 is a great cheap turbo. just as easy to find a good one as a t25.
it does spool tad bit slower than a t25, so then it comes down to your goals. a peppy little low-end torque monster, or a peppy top-end bandit?
i see with the cheapness of the manifold/dp you'll invest a little into making flange compatible, good job!

Yup, I'm not entire positive what that flange on the Mani is for, but it's not T2 or T3. As suggested earlier, it's probably for the Aerodyne. If Corky said he'd swap over another flange $100, then that's a deal.
But the DP is another problem. It actually looks kinda like the 3-bolt round Saab flange, but if they were sold as a pair, I'll assume it's for the Aerodyne as well. Since that Aerodyne stuff isn't made anymore, and were for a very specific application, you'd better call Corky and see what he says. Maybe he's got a solution for you.
If you call and get Stephanie, just tell her about your post, and she can get online and take a look at the pictures.
Thanks for posting pics and filling out your stuff. I'm not sure if anybody else around here is in Maine... maybe you're the first!

The manifold and downpipe looks like an aerodyne set up. It does not look like the IHI downpipes we have seen lately. But, I am not the authority on the older systems.
That manifold looks like it would be hard to drill for a T3. There is not much room on the flange. Can you take a photo of the manifold with a tape measure on it? I can check dimensions for you.
If you are looking for quicker spool, go with the T25.
We may have a used T25 in the next few months. Corky is taking the one off of his car and going to the potato.
