Evo intercooler

Does anyone have pics of an evo intercooler installed, or being installed. My buddy gave me his because he got an aps. I've searched a lot and found nothing with specifics, just the answer "yes it can be done". I would like to mount it upside down and have the ic pipes over the intercooler. Any help would be great. Thanks.

No one has done it, you'll be the first. Maybe you can make another thread about it.

viperormiata 07-13-2010 07:51 PM

You obviously haven't searched enough. It's been done alot, and YES you should be able to do it....if you have a functioning brain, and a creative imagination on making intercooler piping.

Very effecient intercooler btw. They still sell for a good price used.

EDIT: Damnit...I'm in a good mood today. Here, look at the picks. Look Here!!!

Hey everyone, I just shit my pants and it's greasy and the oil is leaking through my pants like a cheese cloth. I searched for threads on how to clean my pants, but there are none dealing with greasers. Has anyone ever shat their pants before with really oily dook?

Gonna use this failthread:

Any tip on what intercooler pipe kit i should use for a Evo FMIC?

Tacotaco one looks good, but i'm not sure if it has enough bends, or the right kind...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/8PCS-...item3a59ea2ce5

How about this CX kit?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CXRac...item3a5c9a1fb8

Not really sure how i'd set it up, can't imagine it in my head.

viperormiata 07-15-2010 12:04 AM

Use the first kit. It comes with coupler bends, which are a life saver. Plus it's 4 bucks cheaper :giggle:

But honestly, it's all a shot in the dark until you actually get under the car and make it happen.

And yellowihss...go fuck yourself. I gave you a perfect link, becuase you are a stupid monkey who is incapable of using google, to help you with this ridiculously idiotic thread and I don't even get a god damn thank you! ;)

Was trying to go by these pics:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...1&d=1261612162

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...2&d=1261612162

Makes it look like i'd need for the first one:
A reducer
Straight coupler
2 90 degree pipes
Bend coupler

For the second:
Three bend couplers
Straight piple
Slight bend pipe

Trying to put it together in my head. Thanks for that link. :)

Nice! I thought the first kit looked better for the task. I'm glad you're taking the time to figure it out. Make sure you take into account the clearance needed if you have any accesories.

I don't think ApexOnYou had any ps or ac.

That's true, i don't think he did. i'm -trying- to keep my AC (if i can get it working). Ah, well. Probably go with the taco kit, get it close, then wait a long time for little parts i didn't anticipate. :D

Thank you!

A/c is so worth keeping:idea: it's way too fucking hot.

Most of the aluminum kits sold on ebay are 2.5" piping. It's harder to route, but I did it just fine with both a/c and ps. It just takes patience. The FM Lower Radiator Hose is a life saver too. Also you will have alot of extra piping when you are done.

I helped my friend make a front mount for his E30 and we used the extra pieces to make me a new hotside. I just ordered two couplers from silicone intakes and BLAM!!! Pimp ass hot side.

Have a welder i'm going to be learning on here, and is the chrome plated aluminum ok to weld on? Never looked into welding chrome plated stuff.

Of course, i have ideas of just JB Welding the parts together... but that's probably a bad idea. :D

And no talking about turboing E30's. My M42 E30 doesn't need a turbo... doesn't need a turbo, doesn't need a turbo...

not sure how I would feel about the first one, the pipes aren't beaded. I had IC pipes on my jetta that werent beaded and I would pop a hose off at least once a week. Once I had them beaded no issues though

LOL @ welding! T-Bolts are for men!

Yes....you're M42 wants a turbo bad and you know it:laugh: Would it help if I told you that two of my friends have some of the fastest E30's in Florida and that I get to drive them whenever I want???

Super fast and super reliable. I want one.

Nagase 07-15-2010 01:48 AM

Wow, this kit looks like it'd work just perfect:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/12-PC...item27b13a41cc

All the bendy bits one could want, and they're all beaded! Just need it in blue...

Now officially deem this thread to be about intercooler piping.

I agree, but the only issue here is that most of the pipes will be cut up and welded, rendering the original beads useless.

It's pretty easy to make your own beads, stoppers or whatever. I used a rounded screw driver handle and a vice and made my own "beads" in about an hour. Works good so far.

I like that kit more than the others. If you buy it, just send an email to the seller and ask for different color couplers. Most of the time they will switch it no problem

You know I guess it is all about intercooler piping now, lol.

redfred18t 07-15-2010 10:09 AM

yeah that's very true. this doesn't seem like a bad process either.

Thanks for the link. I'm more looking to go over the radiator with the pipes. Sorry I didn't make it a little more clear. Although after looking at that link I might just do it that way?

18psi 07-15-2010 02:44 PM

I did over the rad with a stereon ic on my previous setup (which is same shape, but a tad smaller in size than the evo one) look up my intercooler thread and you'll see a full writeup.
