Sorry guys, I tried searching and couldn't find my right answer.....Im used to doing 240s and am now turboing my miata....I bought a oil pan adapter to weld in my oil pan, but when I jacked it up low and behold its aluminum.....lol, so my question is where/how do I run a oil return? Is there somewhere on the block or something to do so? Any help would be great!

Tap the pan, screw in fitting, done.

1.6 or 1.8? If you have a 1.6 and a topmount turbo, you can use the OE oil return, but even those who can (myself included) don't recommend it because it snakes the oil around the engine to the other side, is a pain to ensure it stays sloped, and looks like dogass.

Everyone uses a drill and tap and a screw-in type fitting, with just enough JB weld to seal the threads. I did mine while the engine out but most everyone else just taps it with the engine in.

Btw, what sort of 240? I've had 8 so far...

Tap it w/ 3/8" NPT. You can get the tap for about $8 at NAPA, but their bits are expensive. The proper size bit can be had cheaper from Amazon - Amazon.com: 37/64" Quality Import High Speed Steel 1/2" Shank Drill Bit (S + D type drill): Home Improvement. Then buy a 3/8" NPT to whatever size AN adapter you need.

ok great, thanks alot guys....im doing a 1.6 and havent really seen anything like this before. the 240 was a s13 SR swapped with holset hy35

nice i had 2 swapped s13s...... coupe and sil80.

Tapping it isnt hard. but i did it with the pan off. look in the DIY turbo write up

Just make sure you drill it really forward and lower. After looking at all the pics and ready myself for this procedure.. I still managed to hit the Metal Tray. Thank god it wasn't the pickup. Managed to screw it in 3 threads after I tapped it.. Proceeded to JB Weld it on really really really good.

I'm going to checkup on it in 10minutes... Wish me luck lol

Mine did the same thing. Went about half way through before it started to get tough to move. Didn't want to risk cracking the oil pan so I said, JB weld time.
