Default noob- boosting/choosing a miata

Aloha from Honolulu, Hawaii! I am planning on picking up a miata. My recent miata got stolen and when the police found it, the miata was smashed and parts were stolen (tein coils, rota slip streams, M2 Hard Dog Sport roll cage, bride buckets, stage 2 clutch, headers, full exhaust system, etc.) Now that I got money from the insurance, I can pick up another miata, but I need help deciding. These are the one's I'm looking at: (sorry, I love the flip lights more than the newer models)

This is going to be my first time building a turbo system. What's a good turbo kit to start with? I been looking at the "Flyin' Miata kit" and heard many good things about it. I read many articles since last week so yeah.... Although, what do I know? I been building only N/A motors for the past 3 years. When I have questions, I'll post them on this thread, So I could keep one thread instead of creating a million other threads.

**UPDATE**

Now I'm looking at the white at the white, red, and green miata.

White

Red

Green/black?

The first one says it has "high performance oil pump" but doesnt say anything about a rebuild. Also make sure it has the diff its claiming. I didn't know there was such a thing as a "high performance oil pump".

The second one doesn't look like it's sitting on Tein coilovers to me. It does seem to be the way to go if you plan to boost anyway. Just hope that its just the turbo burning oil. Maybe do a comp/leak down test on it. Good luck

First off welcome, and thank you acknowledging your a noob amd need help in a humble matter. Secondly a compression test will measure the amount of compression each pistpn is making when it cranks over. It is one of many ways to che knif the motor is healthy.

i'd check out the 94 first. just hope it's not molested to hell. probably tein lowering springs on stock struts or something and not actual full coilovers. spend money to test that sucka out because seriously it's cheap, especially with a turbo already

Thanks for the help. How do you check the compression?

I looked at the hawaii forum, it seems dead .. Were you selling the black boosted miata? I'm planning on buying the one that's asking for 1100 from kalihi. Anything I should look at before taking the car? Kind of scared of purchasing the miata then having to deal with a million problems (exaggeration) and the rotory is all jacked.

#3 looks like someone took a pic of a car on the highway and just scamming. If it's a legit sale RUN! Probably has sand in the oil. My typing/spelling isn't always spot on, but anyone that makes a sale post like that needs to never sell a car just to learn a lesson. Or they're just too dumb not to put diesel in the transmission.

Adobo, if you have money to spend, and it sounds like you do. Spend it first on a decent car. I'm gonna guess that your not to handy with a wrench if your asking what a compresion test is. Take your prospective car to a trusted mechanic, and get a clean bill of health, including the cooling system. Boosting a sick car will kill it quickly.

Once you have a new car, change all the fluids etc too make sure it's as good as its gonna get. THEN order the flying Miata kit. It will do just fine for what it sounds like your needs are.
