fitting 3/8 NPT sensor in 3/8 BSP fitting?

Can you fit a 3/8 NPT (GM IAT) sensor in a 3/8 BSP fitting? I now the threads are bit different.
Reason is that I want install a GM IAT in the silicone hose from IC piping to throttle body. I'd use one of these, but they only exist in 3/8 BSP.
Could I safely run a 3/8 NPT tap through it?

I will go ahead and give you my experience... I was looking to find a 1/8" BSPT hose barb fitting, but tried to put a 1/8" NPT in instead. It will thread in, but upon removing the NPT barb, only 2 threads were engaged. I wouldn't trust it. Everyone told me to re-tap it for NPT. That or get an adaptor... Good luck in your quest (it was a PITA).

Here's the difference in the two (BSPT on left; NPT on right):

Edit: Hate to tease you, but this is what you need only in 3/8" instead of 1/8". http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pro...asp?RecID=3142

Question: Is it a regular BSPP (parallel threads) or BSPT (tapered threads)? If it is BSPT I have your fitting, if not, the hunt continues. http://www.premiair-pneumatics.co.uk...ctCode=S010131 It's in Europe too, so would save you on shipping from the States.

Now that you mention it, it might be non-tapered BSP. I assumed it would be tapered so I could run a tap through it. I'll ask them.
That adapter would be ideal, but the tip of the GM sensor won't be long enough to reach through.

Got the BSPP one... http://www.coleparmer.com/catalog/pr...sp?sku=3183052 Pricey, but will work for ya. Check with them prior to ordering. I will take payment in beer from Belgium please. :D

Just read the last part about the sensor not being long enough... Sucks. :(

ouch, pricey indeed, that $40 in your money :)
I think I'll just order the fitting, run a tap through it and apply abundant thread sealant :)

Sounds like a plan... Good luck. Actually it's $23.75 USD here.

hmm, got a reply that it's parallel thread. IOW, no tapping :(
Off to the welder
