flyin miata manifold EGT placement
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...hmentid=123640
Need to drill a hole and tap it for my egt probe, considering doing it right above the "Y" cast into the manifold. Has anyone done this and had any issue, the metal seems thick enough to make a few good threads in. Also how much do i need to worry about the probe tip breaking off if egt temps arent excessive ? I plan to really only run the probe for acouple thousand miles while I tune then im moving it post turbo |

http://www.codrus.com/miata/teardown/exh-manifold.jpg I've had EGT probes in a turbo manifold (two different manifolds) for 60K miles, never had one break. My experience is that they are typically really hard to remove after they've been installed a run for a while, at least without destroying them in the process. --Ian |
From what I remember, Corky recommends putting egt in trubro housing. Housing is cheaper than mani if u fuxor it up.

I noticed thoses 2 think parts on 1 and 4 and thought about drilling 4 for the egt probe, my only issue is that most people seem to put them in collector so if i stuck it in one runner id have less data to compare my temps to

Ive thought about putting it in the turbine housing, but with my Gt2560r turbo in the area I can put the probe it seems like the metal is only maybe 1/8"thick and im concerned that might not be enough
