FM Intercooler Piping.
Called up FM today to order some piping and was wondering if the silcone piping is going to fit. Is there anyone using it on a homebrew kit. I currently have a SR20 t25 turbo with a BEGI manifold and DP. It looks like it will work just fine. Also for information I have a 99. Any help or if anyone has this kit that wants to chime in it would be great.

As long as the compressor outlet is clocked in the correct direction and it has the proper outlet you should be fine. Typically those turbos come with a 2- or 3-bolt style outlet, if your turbo is like that, there are adapters you can buy that bolt into place and allow the piping to clamp straight to it.

Ok I have the cast manifold. Not sure how much that makes a diffrence.

That manifold is fine. The FM cast, BEGi cast, and old skool BEGi/FM manifold all locate the turbo in the same place.

Should be fine. I know on mine where the pipe goes from turbo to inter cooler it tweaked the inter cooler back a bit. I think it was pushed up against the power steering lines wrong. Calling FM I'm the only one with the issue. If you hooked it all up and looked down at the inter cooler from above it was pulled toward the radiator on the driver side. I now have no P/S but haven't put it all back together. With P/S it was a bit tight of a fit. However, I'm the only one who had the issue I know of.

Yes, the IC hoses will move the IC around. I did some ghetto lower brackets to hold the IC to the rad. Problem solved. |
How much did they quote you for just the piping? They are all on vacation right now so I can't ask them.
I feel too lazy to build my own piping. |

$400+ Goood Lawd thats alot of money. The whole kit with the intercooler is only like 600 bux. meh.
All I am realy worried about is the BOV, IAT and the idle vacuum nipples and welding them on, I have a mig so I cant do aluminum. Maybe do a SS or straight steel section there and the rest aluminum. Thnx guys, sucking it up and doing it myself then, I like fabbing up stuff anyway. |

Don't get me wrong, I'm not talking smack about FM. They make and sell high quality well thought out products. This just happens to be one that you can easily DIY for a fraction of the cost. Sure you'll have more points of failure, but it really comes down to your budget, and what you are willing to spend to be lazy.
Check out Mobius thread where he intercooled his rotrex. He has a great parts list and pictures that'll get you started. |

I made a DP brace because I didn't feel like paying 36 dollars for theirs but was thinking of buying intercooler pipes from them for 400 dollars. I might have some backwards thinking sometimes.

I got the coldside piece in a trade a few years back. I love it, to say the least.
I've really been thinking about getting the hotside piece due my extremely tight spacing issues with my basketball and a/c. I emailed FM about the hotside piece and they quoted me just over 100 bucks. I jumped on dat shizzle. |
By the Hotside do you mean the whole outlet to IC pipe? If you say it's around 100bux that just might be worth it.
Anyway I will give them a call when they are less lazy and aren't on vacation to see how much it is. I will mock everything up this weekend (motor still needs to go in the car) and see what I actualy need and price it out. Thanx |
