Found this fabricator for turbo manifolds, check out! post opinions

So I know down the road when I am ready to turbo my miata I am gonna want a nice manifold that won't crack and for a great price. I was searching google and found this guy's website for fabricating custom turbo manifolds and he claims if it ever cracks that he will send you a free replacement due to his claim that his craftsmanship is great. His prices start at around $199.99 for 4 cyl setups. Post opinions and/or experience with his service if anyone has even heard of him.

website: Forced Air Performance Turbocharger Systems and Component's

Here's a copy of what he says on the website:

"A lot of time and effort has gone into the planning of every manifold we make. I started by making manifolds for all of my own vehicles, to make sure they are dependable and made comparable in performance to any other manifold on the market. If you purchase a manifold and have any problem with warping, cracking or bending, I will replace it FREE and cover shipping both ways. That is how certain I am that if you buy one of my custom manifolds it will be the last one you will ever have to buy for that vehicle's life.

All the manifolds we make are fitted to a mock-up engine, with a real turbocharger (per your specifications) being fitted to the manifold at the same time. In this way, we can ensure visually that the manifold will work for your needs, BEFORE we ship it to you. This is just an extra step we take, so that you are completely satisfied when the manifold arrives at your door.

Our extensive parts bin includes a turbocharger for every flange we carry (e.g., both Garrett T3 standard bolt pattern and Chrysler bolt patterns; Garrett T4 standard/ T25; Mitsibishi TD05H series 12A and 14B; IHI Turbochargers. Got something else? Just ask!)"

And here is his message on replacement satisfaction:

"Turbo exhaust manifolds are commercially available for popular vehicles and engines, usually at high-profit prices. Now, if you have an engine for which there is no turbo manifold available, or, is way out of your price range, you have a couple choices: (i) one is to make your own, or (ii) order one of our turbo manifolds. If you have the interest, enthusiasm and ability to fabricate your own, you’re probably not reading this anyway! For the rest of us, at $199.99 plus shipping to your door, made how you want it, with our unbeatable guarantee, how can you go wrong?

We do not believe you can get this type of product and service anywhere else! Just give us a call. We have experienced your frustration in not being able to purchase the correct turbo manifold for your engine/vehicle combination! We care about what you need!

So please give us a chance to serve you properly."

They all look like ---- to me.

There's no real reason to get a log manifold from someone other than artech or build it yourself. None of those manifolds look particularly well designed and even the flanges and bends alone to make a schedule 40 stainless manifold are around $150 or more. This is coming from someone who knows about manifold construction, see soviets cars as example.

supporting forum sponsors like Artech and AF>some random company that's not even into miatas

rhysmate 07-22-2012 05:43 PM

that stuff looks pretty half hearted

Well I gave it a try and posted his work on here for you honest opinions. I just got off the phone with him and he said he has been doing it for over 20 years. I think I am gonna go ahead and have him build me one and test it out and post high resolution pics for everyone to check out. If all goes well and it holds up then I'm satisfied for that price, I don't care if it doesn't look pretty I'm going for durability. He said he uses mild steel for the piping and 3/8" thick steel for the manifold flange. He doesn't use t-fitting styles like the ones found in treadstone performance kit, he makes/cuts his own pipe. I don't know though for that price and if it is guaranteed to not crack/warp etc... then I'm happy. Ya he isn't a forum supporter but I posted this topic to see what you guys thought. thanks for your honesty.

I would not send that man any money. Manifolds can crack for many reasons, not just poor construction. If you don't deck the flanges and you cause hot spots that crack the manifold, will he still cover the replacement?

I mean, really, it's a crappy log manifold. You can find cheap cast logs on here for dirt money.

Since you don't want to build your own manifold, who is going to build a downpipe for your "custom" manifold?

brokenspoon420 07-22-2012 08:19 PM

true.

viperormiata 07-22-2012 08:58 PM

Your sig says you have a 1990, so what you should do tomorrow morning is call Flyin' Miata and ask them if they have anymore "deal of the day" manifolds for sale. I bought a brand new FM2 manifold for 100 dollars from them.

Give them a call.

brokenspoon420 07-22-2012 11:28 PM

i guess that sounds cool, i didnt know they had deals like that, will have to check that out, thanks

fastnfurious7 07-23-2012 12:18 AM

Did you read the fine print?

" Manifolds are specially made each and every time, therefore we do not offer refunds. We will modify or fix any problems you may have.-Buyers that purchase items using a credit card through paypal, give up all rights to chargebacks. Any customer that violates this will be prosecuted under full extent of the law, and will be responsible for any legal fees associated with it."

All the way @ the bottom of the link you posted. Contradictory? !?

I mean, I'm not keen on having to disassemble my car every week to ship their junk back to them to fix so my car can be out of commission for a month so they can ship me back a hunk of crap that only last a few weeks. May not be the case but I wouldn't want to take the chance IMHO.

Words of wisdom to live by when modifying cars.
1. You get what you pay for.
2. Do it right the first time or you will probably regret it later on.

Good luck. ;)

Posts thread asking for opinions, ignores advice, makes retarded decision.

brokenspoon420 07-23-2012 12:44 PM

ya screw this company, i agree with doing it right the first time, thanks everyone

curly 07-23-2012 12:48 PM

Holy ugliness. I could care less about manifolds, downpipes are the hard part.

I'd suggest getting 1/2" flanges if you can, less warping and I think TSE insists on 1/2" flanges if you ever get their inconel studs. More thread engagement.
