Grabbed the wrong injectors...

So I picked up some injectors from the junkyard today, but forgot to bring a print-out of injector specs. So I grabbed some out of a 1990 Celica, 2.2L. Turns out they're 213cc tested at 290kPa (~42psi), or 217cc at 43.5psi. Oh well. Think they're still worth cleaning?

Al Hounos 10-21-2006 08:12 PM

definately not. unless you're planning on going all AFPR for fuel.

beerslurpy 10-21-2006 09:34 PM

No, unless it would be easier to drive 8 injectors instead of 4 properly sized ones.

You could always keep them around if you need spray nozzles for alky injection and the like.

yeah, youre going up 10cc, nothing a few extra psi of fuel couldn't make the 203s do.

Dump em... go to 550s! What a difference!

Not unless you are planning on running staged injection. What are you using for engine management? Really it's less hassle to get the right injector, although staged injection can be setup for some really trick stuff, even so, I would use much larger injectors even in a staged injection setup... and they would be flowing VP C16 when they kicked in... :D

Megasquirt would allow for staged injection I understand. Maybe that could be looked into.

I believe that it does.

Well, I'm not currently turboed. But I'm working on it. I guess I'll keep these around in case my stock injectors die before they're replaced to go turbo. Unless of course...

Anybody want some 213cc injectors?

mxv 10-22-2006 09:10 PM

sorry to hijack but whats a good size injector for megasquirt and 220 whp?

magnamx-5 10-22-2006 09:14 PM

500's get the bigest injectors you can find at a good price the ms can run anything.

550 cc/min injectors are about perfect for that. You can probably go a little smaller but the additional headroom is nice if you want to increase the rev limit or decide to up the power a bit later.

what if i score some dsm 450s? will they fit up fine?

Braineack 10-24-2006 09:13 AM

450cc injectors are good for around 275bhp with only 50psi of fuel pressure.

Unless you're running 20 PSI of boost... in which case your effective fuel pressure is only 30 PSI. (I know it's not quite that simple, but it does change the Delta in PSI across the injector.)

Different connnectors and low impedance. They'll work if you change the connectors on the wiring harness and run ballast resistors. It's cheaper and less wiring changes/additions just to find some RX-7 injectors.
