I love GRM and the Challange. I still have a subscription, even though I'm living in Sweden now.

Awesome work! I remember reading about the car a while back in GRM and thinking...damn...how do these guys make such a beast of a car for $2k?! Now I know. Congrats on the win!

Glad you could make it to the Challenge again. You guys put a lot of work into the car this year and the attention to detail was awesome. Congrats on first place! What are your plans for next year?

Assuming I get it all done and in budget... I have 'all' the parts... I'm bringing a Miata

So awesome!

When I saw it in person I wondered what all the honda logo's meant, I heard about the mugen from the dumpster that's crazy!

Very impressive work, thanks for the inside scoop split-time, next yr I hope to see a similar thread from yourself.

I'll try to get a thread together, it will not have the spread of years that Gutty held though. Assuming all gets together in time and turns out as planned of course. It'll be a thread after its done and gone to GRM, or done and not within budget

I read about it when it came out, and I thought it was an awesome build.

Gotta love GRM.

I was there with the festiva team - it was awesome to watch your car get consistently lower and lower times - an 11.8 in a FWD 2k car is pretty impressive. we had traction issues the entire time - as evidenced by our driver being all over the lane.

your car was very well done, congrats on the win. hopefully we'll make it out there net year - i'm building up a beater miata too.

The torque steer he battled made for a handful of *** puckering moments. I can only imagine being behind the wheel for those.

Yea once the 2 stage boost control solenoid died, the wheelspin came on pretty fast in low gears and then it'd get grip and try and take him into the wall... the first time we drag raced it at san antonio raceway i was watching from the staging lanes and it was scary - he was the only one crazy enough to drag race it.

what did ya'll do to battle the torque steer?

To be honest, it wasn't really addressed. With the honda B series engines, you get an intermediate shaft. Thus your axles are same length and that helps. We also had an LSD in the trans, another plus for fwd.

Not having driven Gutty though, I can't say how much those bits helped.

see the LSD is REALLY what our car needed - that open diff killed is at the drag. nothing like trapping 105 and only running a 14.5 ET. ours had an int. shaft as well, but we're wondering if it was binding.

moving on from the festiva though - time to see some more miatas at the podium eh?

The autox was awesome. The crx driver was fast, I still thought the red turbo miata would win it but I guess not. Man I seen those two guys racing those mopeds too haaha.
