GT2860rs vs GT3071r vs GT3582r

hi,
i have a little question.
at the moment i have a GT2860rs and wont to upgrade it.(if necessary i charge the mainfold)
what did you think is the best solution?GT3071r? GT3582r?
my greatest care is the spool up, i like it so early it get.
The goal would be over 300whp^^

The 2860 will be the best for what you are looking for.

18psi 10-17-2010 09:56 PM

if your goal is quick spool up (of the 3 you want to upgrade to) and a bit over 300whp, the smallest one that will provide both is obviously the clear choice.

2871 will do 300-350whp and spool quicker than the others.

but as Jay said, if its ONLY 300 you want keep your current churbo

aaronc7 10-17-2010 10:05 PM

probably depends how much "over 300" you want... 350+ then 3071

CDFreak 10-17-2010 10:13 PM

330 would be nice
but you never know what future brings ;)
maybe it's me too little then;)

here a list of my engine modification:
94 BP engine
Supertech 9:1
Suertech ex and intake valves
Eagel Rods
ACL RAcing Bearings
Arp Stunts
Big Oil Pump
Dbilas Turbo Cam´s
T25 Mainifold from HGP with gt2860rs
big injectors
255lph Fuel pump
big whater cooler
in a few weeks(when it arrived in germay) a Begi Intake Manifold and a big Throttle body(did everybody recommend once Pnp whit idle screw?)
Electormotive TEC 2
Exhaust is 2,5" i wont to got to 3"

i dont know the intercooler size at the moment.

What other parts are you using? Intake manifold? Exhaust manifold? Exhaust pipe diameter? Intercooler size? Do you have pictures under your hood?

You might already have almost enough turbo but not enough supporting parts.

Tschüss

18psi 10-17-2010 10:15 PM

yeah post your complete mod list, or the list of mods you are planning to achieve said power and spoolup goal with.

chicksdigmiatas 10-17-2010 10:56 PM

Low boost threshold is for pussies.

Spool is important, yet you won't do a 3" exhaust and you're talking about a 3071R?

Keep your 2860RS and turn the boost up.

Faeflora 10-18-2010 12:48 AM

2860 for 300hp or 3582 for more power.

Or even better, precision turbo 5857.

Since we're making outrageous suggestions, I think the turbo from a container ship will suit your needs perfectly.

chicksdigmiatas 10-18-2010 01:07 AM

LOL. If he wont run a 3 inch he isn't a man.

sorry for my bad englisch:facepalm:

Braineack 10-18-2010 08:20 AM

you WANT to upgrade.

Won't is a contraction (shortening) for WILL NOT.

CDFreak 10-18-2010 08:22 AM

oh sorry:facepalm:

I don't think you were on this thread where a PT 5857 was super efficient even on a 1.6. Oh wait you were- https://www.miataturbo.net/dynos-timesheets-21/what-youve-been-waiting-results-inside-52669/

I think the 5857 is a much better choice than a GT3582.

I also saw an ad in Modified for a GT-X GT3071. It's not on the website now but I would wait for that vs a regular 3071.

Du musst sprechen mit MUSANOVIC, er spricht Deutch sehr gut.
Er hat ein Borg Warner s252 fur seine NB, macht 270 mit nur 12-13psi.
Der Borg Warner is nur $450 neu...

hustler 10-18-2010 01:20 PM

My car on 8.5:1 compression with a log manifold on a GT2860rs .86, and you need to shift the RPM peak torque about 500rpm sooner. The wheel speed function on the dyno wasn't perfect.

advancing timing at 15psi did no good, lol.

my uneducated, misinformed theory:
The gt2860rs "works" and stops overboosting after 13psi.
Lowered static compression "is beneficial" after 13psi or about 220whp (dynodynamics, higher on a dynojet).

After 16psi this turbo started to run out of gas. With a tubular manifold, its a different game and it makes the same numbers at 12psi but hits 16psi at 3400rpm.

Scheisse! Das ist nicht teuer. Warum habe ich nicht gewusst?

Edit: Where did he find it that cheap?

CDFreak 10-19-2010 07:35 PM

first thanks for all,

who can tell me what Big Throttle Body(65 or 70mm) it fit Plag and Play? good would be one with idle Screw. variable TPS would also be great.

Not new news. Different wheel design, like an 11-blade compressor wheel like my Duramax has or something. 10% more flow for the same spoolup. Have they actually announced a GTX30R yet? I thought it was only available in a 40 or a 42 and up.

Don't bother putting a big TB on the stock IM, you need to change the IM (unless you have an '02 "squaretop" manifold).

Yes, GT30X and GT35X was in the ad.
