GTX3576
Hello, just wondering if any one here has tried the GTX3576.?
I'm building a 2l bp engine with FM's stroker kit, Ported 99 head +1mm valves and big cams, Have helped build two 1.9l turbo miatas for two friends of mine earlier, and they have both used a gt3076r.with a open.63 exhaust housing. One of the cars have a stock vvt 2001 head and dynoed 405 rwhp at 1,4 bar of boost and he had 1,7 bar of back pressure. My engine will breath a lot better and have0,1l more volum, my 99 head flows 266cfm at 12,5mm lift. So the question is if the gtx3576 with a divided .82 exhaust housing would be too laggy compered to the gt3076r with a open .63 housing.. I remember people tougth that we were crazy running that turbo back in 2006, but they realy work very good on a1.9l bp engine. I'am shooting for 500whp, |

Why not use a borg warner EFR?

Soviet did 450 on the 6758. But I bet it was pretty maxed out. With a stroker motor and a 7163 you would see some good stuff.
AFAIK no one has dyno plots of a 7163 yet though. |

500whp in three easy steps:
Step 1: Product Link - Trackspeed EFR Turbocharger System Step 2: Select "EFR7163" Step 3: Install with MS3, ID1300s, and custom transmission of your choosing |

Would't the EFR 7670 be the closest EFR turbo to the GTX3576?
And the reason i'm locking at the garret turbo is there new v-band divided housings, I'm, going to run a divided setup because of the overlap on my cams. but i can always go EFR but i really like v-band exhaust housings. The reason i need a turbo that flows very much on the exhaust side is i'm going to rev to 8500 rpm, and i want a flat torque curve from torque peak to the redline. And because i don't want to use another gear box then the 6 speed miata box. If i can keep the torque at 450nm from the torque peak and out to 8500 rpm i should get around 500 whp. |

This would be so much simpler with a divided EFR. You'd save money over a garrett, two wastegates, etc..
|
I have a nice Artech setup with a 4" exhaust and a Holset turbo with a quick spool valve. Perfect for making the power you want.

so the plan was external waste gates and not route them back in the exhaust, but build a 2,5 inch short exhaust system for the wastegates |

and a want a true divided setup, |

Shifti wants to keep the average HP numbers in our workshop above 400, but does go to extremes to acheive it :D always one-uping us.. we have 405whp(silver NB), 430whp(NA), and now he wants more :D probably wont buy a kit, as he has been the guy welding stuff for both these cars too .
excited to see what numbers he will get with a bigger engine, and a LOT more free flowing head than my NA. |
You guys definitely seem to know what you're doing. Why not try it and find out?
|
I will try. :) the engine will hopefully be in the car next summer and dyno'd as a NA engine first to see how much hp it makes.
Then we will calculate how the GTX3576 will suit the engine. If it turns out to be a mismatch i have to consider other turbos. |

Not as far as ive found there isnt any in the Miata community, and mine is still months away from running :/

I'm not sure if Garret has something similar, but Borg Warner has a good tool to help with sizing their turbos.

You guys definitely know what you're doing, but I would also suggest going the EFR route, it's newer and better and there are plenty of options for divided housings too. I've seen the 7163 do very impressive things on 2L and 2.5L making 500-550 with a very broad torque curve. |
