Help identifying Turbo

Hi everyone,

I bought my car with what appears to be a SR20DET turbo on it. It has gone bad and is burning a lot of oil. The intake ar is .80 and exhaust AR .86. Says Garrett on the side and M24.

The compressor wheel measures:
OD: 60mm
ID: 42.39mm

Turbine:
OD: 52.88
ID: 45.14

Can you guys help me identify this turbo? It is on my 1990 1.6 liter making 13psi of boost and spooling around 4300rpm. Going out to grab some pictures now...

On the CHRA, the riveted Garrett-branded tag will have a few part numbers. Punch them all into Google and see what comes up. Off the top of my head, though, an M24 casting on the comp cover and a 60mm comp exducer indicates it's a T25/GT2560/SR20DET/related turbo.

Unfortunately there was no tag on the CHRA.

Without the tag, you're spitballing. Google's guess is as good as ours.

I will say that the 0.85A/R housing is not desirable at all with that turbo. You really want the 0.64. The 0.86 Garrett housings are only beneficial once you step into the 2860RS/2863/2867/2871 neighborhood. At the power goals of a stock motor 2560R setup, the small housing is definitely better.
