Hi, quick oil leak question.
 

This has been talked about many times, I searched, but I wanted a few guys to verify my particular findings. I turbo charged my car today, it is a slightly modified greddy kit. I posted it here due to more traffic and it is modified alittle. I put a vacuum cap on my intake manifold and left the pcv open on the valve cover. I did not hook up the vent hose to the turbo inlet either. The pcv is plastic and I was scared it would bypass anyway.

When I got home there was oil coming from somewhere on the side of the pass side block. Looks like the oil pump plug, and my #2 spark plug tube is now filled with oil and is on top of my valve cover. It has NEVER done this before. The motor is a reman mazda unit with 20,000 miles on it. I am not really going to start off doing compression test and what not because the engine was perfect 10 min before the install and leaks oil on the first boost pull. Does this sound like the PCV problem I have read so much of?

hook it up right man.

clean everything up real good. that oil will f-up your plug wires. install pcv. try again.

get a metal gtx pcv if it makes you feel better.

:confused: hook the pcv valve back up and put the breather line back into the intake.


snap a pic of your vacuum routing.

Resurrecting an older thread because...

In the course of troubleshooting a minor oil leak I decided to man up and replace my PCV valve with a 323 GTX piece (along with the CAS seal, the valve cover gasket, etc.) Having been cautioned against aftermarket PCV valves in this regard I ordered one from the local dealer. I even looked at the computer screen while the parts dude was entering the info to verify that, indeed, we were looking at the catalog for a 1989 323GTX.

The valve came in today and I just picked it up at lunchtime. It's plastic.

The body is plastic, anyway. The plunger on the inside however does appear to be metal however. Is this what you're talking about?
