High-temp rubber vs. silicone for IC piping.
What's the deal with the high-temp rubber ATP sells? It's half the price of the silicone stuff. Anyone tried the stuff? I was considering using it on the coldside and mabye on the hotside on everything except the turbo coupling itself. I didn't see any threads on it here so I thought I'd ask.

I dunno how its worse. I only say worse because it cost less lol. I have never actually seen anyone use it. You can find cheap resources of silicone than ATP. If all you need is straight fittings there are some places where you can just buy a good 2ft length for like $20 and cut your own.

I use radiator hose when i can. works just fine rated for 15+ psi and 200+ degrees F 10-20 dollars in hoses of the right size is a good investment for moockup purposes anyway.

that rubber is probably the nitrile rubber used by most OEs. I'm using two 90s - one on my "turbo inlet" and the other on the cold side pipe off the IC. I have no complaints - and it's not some funky color like a lot of the silicone. The only real disadvantage is that it's thicker - takes up more space around the pipe than the silicone.

check out OEM turbo cars made before 1990 and see how their high temp rubber looks. It'll reliably last 5 years. It'll probably crack and get hard after that.

I wonder what that lifespan works out to at ~1000/yr. ;)
