Hole in Turbo?

4 Attachment(s)
All,

I have a gt2554r that I am planning on installing. I couldn't help but notice a small hole above the threaded holes of the oil drain. The turbo is practically new and has never been installed. Is this normal or more importantly will it cause the turbo to leak? I think it may be just a cover for the internal parts and not actually hold oil but confirmation would be awesome :)

Thanks in advance.

This most definitely does not look like a bolt hole. If you look closely at the two pictures you can see the hole - it doesn't look intentional. And can you please show me previous threads regarding this? Had a hard time seeing it
When searching.

If you're talking about that little hole to the left of the yellow tape, on the back side of the oil drain flange...yeah, that's just the other side of the bolt hole. Nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the help guys! I wasn't trying to come off rude in the first response its only the size of a pin hole that's why I didn't think it looked like a bolt hole and it's only on one side of the turbo. I looked inside and i can see the threads for oil return fitting bolt. I just think its weird that there's a small hole there that is much smaller than the bolt so it wont be able to protrude out of the back. It looks like a manufacturer defect but glad to hear it wont have any affect.

Crappy Garrett turbos. You should have bought a Chinese turbo off ebay.

Is it groundhog day. I swear I've read this exact same post like 2 years ago. Right down to the op arguing that its not a bolt hole.

It would be funny if the previous thread was started by the guy I bought this turbo from. From here on out i'll just go with a china charger.
