Holy $#!~ Balls @ my Miata

Going on about 6 months with the turbo on the car. It's a weekend driver, perhaps about 1 day a month really. I've been running the base map from BEGi, it's been okay just never that o----- moment. Decided to read up on tuning over the past few days and did lots of research.
After looking at my maps I realize
1. I'm too rich above 3500 rpm under load(wideband agrees)
2. I think I might actually know what i'm doing

I made a few runs with some slight adjustments to the MAF map. I'm still slightly rich under boost, I figure I'll let a pro do the fine tuning.

after the last tune...OMFG I found my o----- moment! I'm running a Godspeed 18G TD05 set to 14.5 psi, boost starts to build around 3K and pulls like a freight train after 3500-3700..I could be a bit off in the RPM numbers I was trying to focus on the road more.

Are you actually running 14.5psi through a MAF?

And what is "rich"? How far under stoich (14.7) are you?

Idle @14.3

5-8 psi it's in the low 11's towards 8 it hits high 10's -

You are running an Xede?

+1 to Sav's question - you know you *want* to be rich in boost, right? <12 on the wideband.

Are you pulling any timing at higher rpm? IIRC the base xede map is only pulling 4 degrees, which sounds iffy for 14psi of boost.

Edit: ah, ok, see your wideband numbers, could still pull some fuel probably to pull it out of the 10's.

Yes I'm running Xede. I keep thinking about switching over to MS because there seems to be a lot more support for it in the forums.

Mobius, any chance in sharing some maps? I see in your sig your running Xede with 550's also.

Thanks.

Sure. Mine still needs tweaking in the lower-to-mid throttle areas but you're welcome to take a look. My timing map was termed "aggressive" by Steph but the rotrex allows more timing.

I tweaked the O2 map a bit, even though Stephanie says not too, to adjust open/closed loop transitions. That needs more work too but I just haven't had time to mess with it. Things are at the "good enough" stage.

Edit: you really need an OBD2 scanner that will show fuel trims to get things dialed in properly. Start with idle, then with cruise, then various rpm points, then WOT fine tuning. Doing it that way keeps you from chasing and adjusting thing around the LTFT any more than necessary. Although I believe the 99-00 ecu's do not carry LTFT into their open loop table, whereas mine does.

Awesome, thanks

Here are some side by side, yours on the left
** Note my output scaling for AN0 (big injectors) is set to .852 so my MAF #'s may look a super high vs yours
