I asked about the crack in the 2nd picture and if went all the way through. His reply:

Yes it does, a lot of housings are like this the other t3 that i just pulled off my car is worse and i noticed nothing wrong with the turbo spooling. Its very common. I would not be attempting to help you out if i did not know for a fact it would work fine.

Sounds like someone trying to spoon feed you his dick. But if its what you want to do meh, im just saying i wouldn't trust it imo.

I bought a used t3 exhaust housing and it had a crack inside like that, gonna run it as well, also my friends has a crack and he used it on a bmw e30 inline 6 and a harley bike fine.

Bond 09-29-2010 10:41 PM

Fuck it, run it til it blows up

1slowna 09-30-2010 12:32 PM

my stock dsm turbo looked 10x worse then that mine you could slide a penny in the cracks and the cracks were in the same places, and my dsm was just as fast and ran just as good with shit ass housing as all the other stock turbo dsms. those lil cracks will not have a noticable effect just know that they will expand and in a few years u will need a new housing for sure.

leatherface24 09-30-2010 01:06 PM

its bad. dont use it.

DSM turbos will ALWAYS have cracks like this,

If the price was right go for it but use with caution but im sure it will work just fine

You'll blow the welds holding the quarters to the pistons.

Do you guys think that drilling (very small holes) the end of the wastegate crack will prevent it from getting bigger?

Will this really be bad for spool?

If you truly drill at the end of the crack each way then yes. The holes distribute the stress evenly. But with the added factor of heat its only a matter of time before it snakes through some other way. Id replace the housing/turbo if it was going on my car. :2cents:
