Greddy Type-S Recirculated
https://www.miataturbo.net/forums/sh...1&postcount=48 Although I played a little with the tension yesterday and I got it to sound more like a whoooosh. Similar to "Whoosh on the Track" on the FM TV page. http://www.flyinmiata.com/video/index.php?no=2 |
Turbosmart supersonic,it sounds like the air brakes going off on a semi truck.

yeah I got five comments that day that I have a ghost car....you saw it haul ass but you couldn't hear it one bit. I had a 2.5" DP, 2.5" high flow cat, to a 2.25" Borla Dual exhaust. It has a good note, it's just not loud.

I have the type-s on my turbo with both lines hooked up. It gives an insanely loud whistle when it lifts. Put it like this, you don't hear my exhaust when I am blocks away - you hear my BOV. Definitely the loudest at any auto-x that I have heard. I pulled the 2nd hose off it once and it lost all the volume. I only ran like that for a few minutes before I hooked it back up because I missed the sound.

hmmm I gotta try it with the 2nd port plugged in...I only ran it that way when it was VTA, it held it closed pretty good that way. |

Sounds about right! I've been driving around more today and noticed that I tightened it too much, so back to chirping I go.
|
Hmmm...I don't know why , But I really enjoy that sound the type-s bv makes, always wanted one since the need for speed underground 2 game came out, well I finally got my hands on one for my car , hurray

Am bored of my HKS SSQV. Have bidded on a genuine greddy type s as it sounds simply devine. Heres hoping i win the auction and have put in a pretty high max bid so got a good chance. |
Is there a database of bov sounds anywhere on the net? I'm pretty happy with my Bailey, it lets off an easy wsssshhh! sound.

Wow.
Those of your using the Greddy (or clone) valves- are you running both springs, or only one? I removed my ailing FM BOV a few months ago and installed one of the knockoff Greddy type valves. I opened it up and removed the smaller spring, and while it is VTA I removed the horn and machined an adapter to put a small K&N filter on the exhaust port. My goal was to get my valve as quiet as possible and it sounds nothing like the clips y'all have posted. No whistle at all, just a whoosh of air. Sort of like a quiet fart if I had to describe it. I wish I had a portable recorder I could use to take a clip of it... |
I really like the forge motorsports one that I got from PAT. The sound is truly amazing and the price is definately right.
