How effective is the cheap begi coolant reroute?
BEGI Miata Turbo Coolant Re-Route BEGi
Does it work well seeing as it doesent re locate the thermostat? |
too effective IMHO.

$90 for a product that will do nothing but make your car not warm up properly.
|
+1 to what Sav says if you run it like the picture.
The only reason I see to use that setup is to keep the heater core return line away from the turbo/downpipe. That T splice should go in the lower radiator hose and the tube off the mixing manifold removed and plugged. At that point you have just recreated the mixing manifold so it offers nothing in the way of additional cooling. It should be renamed Coolant Line Reroute. |
glad I didn't get that one. Is the "racer" re-route good? I'm trying to figure out the best option for keeping my car cool. A good price:effectiveness ratio. Is the best option a new radiator, new fans, cutting the bumper, creating hood extraction, coolant re-route (racer or diy), or oil cooler? It started to overheat while I was driving down the highway at 90 on a hot day.

better radiator would be my first guess. |
Yeah, if your car is a 90 with the original radiator you may want to check into that first. People have a tendency to use tap water in them which contains minerals that eventually plug up the small tubes in the radiator causing it to be in efficient as hell. Next time you take the car out for a while, turn it off and then feel around on the fins of the radiator across the entire surface. Cooler areas indicate that it's plugged up in that section.
From the aftermarket offerings I've seen so far M-tuned is the only no-compromise kit that addresses all the concerns and does it properly. But it's pricey |
got an auto radiator this week the core is almost twice the size as a manual one width wise
