i jock y8s style.

and post DLL power graphs

Still playing with boost levels.. still rocking stock clutch.. :o

y8s 05-08-2007 08:59 AM

how many boosts is that?

m2cupcar 05-08-2007 09:04 AM

I'm guessing low for the turbo- peak torque at nearly 6k seems real late.

What smoothing level are y'all using for the power graph?

nester 05-08-2007 10:00 AM

Smoothing of 6, which is the DLL default.

10-11psi, I need a better boost controller, I think it peaks at 11.2 and falls to like 10.3 and kinda spikes a little here and there which gives you the "waves" from 6200 to redline.

My boost controller is currently a "dial a bomb", aka a pressure regulator for a air compressor. I need to decide if I want the boost selonoid for the Hydra, or if I want a AEM tru boost, since my autometer boost gauge reads 12psi when the Hydra says 8psi.

m2cupcar 05-08-2007 10:25 AM

My DLL power graphs from the Link aren't nearly as smooth at 6. I can only assume this is because the hydra has higher resolution - ?

I'm using the home depot style mbc. The spike and fall gets worse as the boost goes up. With the mbc and and helper spring I can dial in perfectly flat boost at ~ 9-10psi. Raise the boost to 15 and I get a 15 spike that falls to low 13. Adjusting the MBC will reduce the drop, but add a rise to the end. I think this all surrounds the use of an internal gate- at least in my case.

Braineack 05-08-2007 10:29 AM

my boost gradually increases a psi on a homemade MBC:

I think what causes part of my problem is running a much larger compressor with the t3 turbine and internal gate. I bet if you had a t4 compressor you'd get the spike.

btw- I'm not exactly sure how MLV determined your min boost higher than the max. Can you add gridlines to that graph with inidicators? I guess tho, it wouldn't work because it just randomly plots each data line - ie: your boost and AFR would be intersecting around boost areas. Does MS use AF targets for autotuning?

Braineack 05-08-2007 10:53 AM

it says -12.479 (like 25.4 ~HG.)

yeah it can...i have them set, but it's only making about 1-2% corrections in cruise only.

you can also see the leans spikes on that run....they were tuned out...

nester 05-08-2007 03:13 PM

I ordered the hydra boost control from FM today. Should be here later in the week.

Braineack 05-08-2007 03:17 PM

I gotta figure out the MS boost control mod and wire mine up. I have the solenoid for it.

m2cupcar 05-08-2007 03:37 PM

I have a solenoid... but my boost controller chip is bad. :sadwavey:
