I have been working with Jim on a few Honda things and have found him to be knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I actually have to call him today. I found out he did spec miata engines recently and I got the impression he just recently started building them for AIM who's right across the street. I may be way off here cause it was a little while ago. I know if I had any questions with a miata build he'd be the first guy I'd call, then maybe Bill from FM.

Jim Stewart is a good guy too. He's currently helping me tune my MS. He wants to make sure everything is good and that I have a reliable car to drive. And he's helping me after work during weekdays..he's the kind that goes the extra mile for you. Same with Shane at AIM tunning.

I used a local builder for the block. I have local VW race engine builder doing the crank and the headwork. So far everything is straight and usable but the crank rod journals are .0005" under spec. Questionable. I'm waiting for the bearings to show up so I can measure them and see what the journal clearance will wind up at. I'm still looking for a T5 trans and Tbird diff. Too cold to dig at the junkyard right now. I've started on the bellhousing/adaptor.

Anyone have a junk/shortnose 1.6 crank laying around? I have a 1.6 block I'm making measurements off of.

I had a local Small block chevy HP builder do my 1.8 block, but now I'm going to actually have him do it again because I changed my mind on some things.. Checked it all with a dial bore gauge and its 100% in spec with what I asked for, literally like +/- 0.0005 all around. What I'm really having trouble finding is a good high performance crank shop. Campbell crankshaft did my last crank, but he retired so thats out of the picture. Don't feel like spending the high dollar for a stroker crank, so I'm going to find a shop to build one off a stock crankshaft. Campbell built me a crank to stroke my 350 out 383 back in highschool and I beat the piss out of that engine for 4 years solid, sold it to a friend, still beats the piss out of it. See no reason the same can't be done to a miata crankshaft. We'll see!

Lazzer, I want some information on the T5 you mentioned. I've got a Tremec TKO3550 laying around that I've considered calling Advance Adapters to see what they'd charge to make me a bell housing to mate a T5 case up with the BP...

EDIT: I went ahead and emailed Advance Adapters to see what they would charge to make say, 10 bell housings to mate up a T5 series transmission to a Mazda B series RWD Platform.

Obviously we've got another problem of the PPF/transmission mount, but I don't think that'll be too hard to work out honestly.
