HAHA I wouldn't mind being at that power level, but will probably end up with 250 or less for a couple reasons:
1) Cali 91oct **** is the crappiest gas around. If I melt another piston I will go banana's
2) Transmission is the stock 5 speed and it will probably die at 300

Playing it safe and knowing my internals can handle more helps me sleep at night

Very good choice Vlad!

I cant believe you pulled the motor without the tranny, so much easier with it on IMO

Ask Scott which way is easier. I almost left the morning that we were swapping in his motor after I saw how he decided how to pull the motor before I got there. No lie, I was about to leave, ask him.

I think it took us like a hour to get the trans to mate to the block because someone told him it would be faster to pull the engine without the trans. GL doing it all on your own.

I'll be doing it with my dad, and I am most likely going to take out the trans, bolt it up to the engine out of the car, and re-install everything together.

The ONLY reason I took the motor out without the transmission is because I took the head off while it was in the car, thinking that it was only a headgasket failure and not a melted piston.

No worries. Out comes the trans. Bolt them together. Drop both in. Profit

Where did you buy your parts from and how much did it cost?
It's about time I start rebuilding my motor as well. :-/

What parts are you inquiring about specifically? I've added a lot of things to the engine, including the m-tuned rods, 6 speed, and other stuff.

The rods and pistons are what I need.
Actually I need oversized pistons because the walls of one cylinder got scratched up.
I'm thinking 84mm pistons.

Where do you go for those prices?
Everywhere I'm looking is like $800+
What brand are those or does it matter?
Looking for 9:1 comp since I'm only gonna be running 8psi on a supercharger.

Do a search here for rods or pistons and you will see the vendors where you can get those prices.

Well the engine is assembled and ready to be put back in, but I bought a 6 speed from ZxTex and its coming on Tuesday.
Once its here I'll mate it to the engine and swap the whole thing back in.
Hoping for the best

How scratched up is scratched up? Tiny scratches can be honed out. That's what I did with mine. Just honed out the scratch in cyl4 and its good to go. Honed the other 3 too just so everything is smooooooooooth

I got my pistons used for SUPER cheap locally.
The rods I purchased from a forum member here and also got a great deal on them. If you buy new the mtuned rods are 300 (I think) and pistons are 375 for supertechs and 425 for wiseco's.
I'd go with wisecos if I were you.

If you're just doing a supercharger setup I'd just rebuild with stock pistons/rods. You won't be putting much stress on your engine with the supercharger IMO. What does it boost, like 8-10psi tops?

If you want my stock rods (still in great condition) I'll sell them to you dirt cheap.

A valve broke off and chewed up my 99 head and one of the pistons. Probably due to poor tuning. I was procrastinating on the tuning part. The scratch is not too bad but since it's in the shop anyway I told them to bore it out to 84mm.

Searched on the net and everything I found was about $800. I'll look for mtuned and supertech specifically. Maybe I'll have more luck. No point in throwing away money when I don't have to. This will be the second rebuild already.

Thanks for the stock rod offer but I'll pass. I have 2 good motors sitting around. LOL. I can't pass up a good deal when I find it.

I'll only be pushing 8psi. Gonna be my daily driver so don't want to go too crazy.

Price is not what's really stopping me. It's more the lack of time and too many projects. 67 Camaro gets priority of course but the my lil Miata not far behind at #3.

After I get everything installed I'll be heading up to Sac to get a fine tune this time. Couldn't find a shop with a dyno that would tune a Miata around here.

What EM are you using? And at 8 supercharged psi I'd just stick with your stock rods. Get wisecos for pistons, that's what I would do. Heard they are better than supertecs from a few reliable sources.. Ive seen a group buy (probably ended now) for them for 380 I think. Or just go on belfabs site if you decide to get the supertecs.

I was using bipes and power card.
Have emanage blue that was collecting dust.
I'm hearing good things about wiseco pistons as well.
I figured since I'm rebuilding anyway I'd upgrade the rods too.
Just in case I get the itch to make more power. It's been known to happen.
