IAT sensor location

Put it before the turbo by the air filter or after the intercooler before the tb?

after. never before.

The act of compressing the air creates heat. It is good to know the actual temp of the air going into the engine after it has been heated by the turbo and cooled by the intercooler. If you don't get that right then your fueling will be incorrect for the amount of air entering the engine.

Also make sure you place it somewhere that it won't heatsoak and screw up your hot restarts

I feel like I don't want to put the IAT sensor IN the engine bay just prior to the throttle plate because I know that my engine bay gets REALLY hot an I am worried that the heatsoak there will be worse than the heatsoak in my intercooler. How about in the red in my picture, about 6-8" after the intercooler in the charge piping but not in the engine bay? I cut a hole in my car to bring the charge piping in behind the headlight just like on the MSM uses for the drivers side charge piping. That to me sounds like the best of both worlds. Not in engine bay and not on the intercooler itself and pretty well right in the path of the charged air.

Should be fine. Although, honestly, in the engine bay it would be on the cold side and be better protected and more serviceable.

Mine is tapped into the first pipe after the intercooler.
