IC piping size question(s)/where to buy?
 
My compressor outlet is 2"...my intercooler inlet/outlet is 2"
I've read you can do 2.25" piping on hotside and 2.5" cold side.

But to make it easy. Can I run 2" piping hotside and 2.5" coldside with a reducer on the coldside of the IC? I'm going for ~12-15 psi. 200-220 rwhp so its not to much flow to impede right?

I'm trying to figure out how to route them too, I've been looking at Samnavy's and Brianeak's stuff, doesn't look to bad. Begi manifold, gt25r, IC is CORE: 24x3.5x6 tip to tip is about 30" its large.

Here is the problem? if I offset, where can I get the aluminum piping from of that two different sizes and not get raped?

2" can support PLENTY.

do 2" hotside, and step it up to 2.5" coldside.

Just wanted to make sure...thought it would work.

Looking at your setups and under the hood I still don't see how you route the piping...it is REALLY tight around the radiator.

pretty much. Stripes' design is better. I had to work with what I had. If I could I'd redo it slightly, but it would be very simliar to stripes'

Yup, you've got plenty of room to go around the radiator even with 2.5 inch pipes.

I got 2.5" pipes around my enormous-ass 2" radiator on the hotside. The coldside would have been even easier, but I ended up going with a 90deg reducer from Treadstone to simplify things.

Stripes, would you offer just the two "around the radiator" pipes for sale? Looks like they could work with my JIM-B type pipes pretty easily.

I think it's gonna be tough. You might have to have fun with your buddy the sawzall. My "new" ic I got from m2cupcar is 27" LOA and he said it was pretty tight. Doesn't help that your core is 3.5" deep either.

I've got 2" all around, should be good for my goals (~230whp).

It's pretty tight on the coldside, I don't see how everyone is fitting 2.5" pipes.

Found a company selling mild steel and stainless bends at pretty aggressive prices. Shipping was even reasonable. http://www.mazzurisuper.com

2" 90 bends in stainless are only $16.50. Looks pretty good compared to others I've seen. Anyone have experience with these guys?

u guys keep bringing up stainless steel however wouldnt aluminum be better in our case? Aluminum weighs less and doesnt it cool down quicker?

If you're gonna be a real picky bitch about it why don't you make the turbo side alum and the IM side stainless.

mild and stainless are a lot easier for your average DIY guy to weld with a MIG or wire feed welder than aluminum. It's also cheaper and less prone to damage.

The only real downside is weight, you might add 5-6 lbs to the IC piping with steel over aluminum. Not a big deal on most street cars.

The cooling thing is pretty much a moot point. From what I've read IC pipes really don't have too big an effect on intake temps (in theory they do, but real world numbers don't show any real gains).
