Im in!!
I have decided that I am done with the JRSC, and its time to put on my big boy pants, and go turbo. I will admit that I just want more kick than the SC is giving me now (about 170WHP).....at first. That may/might/probably will change, but I will address that in the future. I already have a money-pit car, i dont want another.
Planning on piecing things together as funds come available, and will start the install when all the parts are here....so, this may take a while. As I get to the end of my purchasing list, I will take the SC system off, and sell it for a few bucks to finance the last bit. Thanks for the automotive crack. |
Good ruck.

Alright!
Nothing like a good little snail. |
250whp is a lot more fun than 170whp.
|
Thanks guys! I think I have found a T28 Nissan turbo that I will use to get things going.
I already have injectors a FP and MSPNP on the car from the supercharger.....so, the necessary parts list is getting smaller. |

A guy in a big brown truck showed up and dropped off a few boxes. Guess I will use them.

BEGI manifold was ordered yesterday.....
Intercooler was mounted over the weekend. Progress is slow, but thats ok.....its progress. |
You're doing fine, no need to rush. t28 should be a fun little street turbo
|
So far your doing it right though. Pics of the car!
|
pics to come soon.
I wan sent a PM, but do not have enough posts yet to reply to you via PM, but the short answer to your question is "yes". |
so, the manifold and first flange came in. Good looking parts.
I plan on making the downpipe to mate to my current Maganaflow cat, and my Magnaflow exhaust. I will make a "test pipe" for (track use only) driving... :) I am also researching exhaust options, as the Magnaflow, iirc, is only 2.25 My research here suggests a 2.5 or even 3.0 inch system will be better. What is the overall thought/suggestion/reasoning? 2.5 or 3.0 inch? |
Just get a 3 inch. Better spool, more hp, and not much more $. Plus if you ever wanna run more boost (which you will) then you wont have to sell the 2.5" and buy a 3" later down the line.

I was sorting out all the flanges I would need....
I lined up the downpipe flange I got from Begi, and it is not the right one. They sent me what I ordered, but what I ordered was not right. I ordered this: BEGI Miata Turbo T25/T28 Turbine Outlet Flange BEGi but the hole pattern is not right. I will get pics of this tonight, as I may need some help finding the right flange. Thanks in advance. |

Here is the turbo upclose:
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1353418848 And again with the flange I bought: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1353418848 As you can see, the flange is "close" but not right. I ordered the flange from Begi, being listed as a T25/T28 outlet flange. This is NOT the right flange. Any help as to what the right flange is? Thanks! |
Dp flanges are finicky. Abe and I found out that even a very standard sr20 turbo has two different flanges, I had to drill out a hole or two to make it fit.
Your best bet is to shop around by eye and see if you can find one that looks right, and hopefully they have measurements to double check. Garrett's site is a good start. Find one of their turbos that's the same and search for that. The waste gate hole looks very square. |
Thanks for the input.
I think I might have to hog out the mounting points on this one, or make a wooden template and have a machine shop copy that out of metal..... The search continues. |
Build looks good so far. Do it slow and right and you wont have any problems. I will say the exhaust wheel on that turbo looks to have some oil on it do you plan to rebuild it before you use it?
|
I would rebuild that turbo due to the oil on the outlet turbine, and flange looks like the flange on my t25. Just my .02
|
Is that flange on backwards?
|
The OE T28 used on SR's is awesome, this looks like an S14 T28. I had an S15 one and it spooled very quickly and will support upwards of 330 hp on SR's.
