Or, if the 5 cylinders from 1/2 Viper are too much, how about staying with 4 cylinders na? Get a Porsche 964 engine...

Come on, guys. If it wasn't painfully obvious before, it is now.

sjmarcy is still pissed about being banned from mt.net, so he's giving instructions to Tech on how best to troll us.

Yes because the busa makes like 30 ftlb of torque at 2k rpm even if boosted.

no, actually any bike engine that outputed around the same as the miata's stock engine and weights a lot less I would look at for a swap.

Heres why your criteria is stupid

2nd (or 3rd?) gear 20 mph no throttle to WOT

Hey look it takes over a second for turbo to spool!

On the other hand here's partial throttle in 4th going WOT

dat spool.

edit: in 2nd graph megasquirt took a dump so captures have about 0.3 seconds between them. e.g. if time scale was linear
heres the same graph with "fill time gaps" option enabled.

Tech, I've seen your dyno chart. My old 2871R setup made more torque down low. Instead of talking about achieving your quite literally impossible goals, have you considered just rectifying the major issues that your current setup has?

I don't think you've ever driven a properly built/tuned turbo Miata TBQH.

thats what I'm trying to do as of now, better exhaust manifold, exhaust, intake piping. See with a better setup how much sooner power comes in.

I see the exhaust manifold as a pretty terrible one. it works but its not optimizing airflow for the engine\turbo.

Maybe instead of picking a manifold that is properly sized for the turbo, you should pick a turbo that is sized properly for the motor.

And that has absolutely NO impact at 2000rpm, so why do you care? At 2000rpm you could use a 1/2" log and still do OK.
