Im on the waiting list for a BEGI Intake Manifold..

I decided to go ahead and get on the waiting list for the BEGI intake manifold. Stephanie said sometime in January they should have some of these in and they will still be at $319.00. That to me is a great deal, especially since this IM is so promising. I think its gonna make a huge difference in power output after 5500 rpm. I think a lot of the torque drop off on the 1.8L is due to the stock manifold not flowing well. We shall see because when I get this manifold in, Im going right back to the dyno to see if I can break 300whp on the stock ecu. I want to do an apples to apples comparison of this IM -vs- the Stock manifold. Im expecting 15-20whp...but we shall see.

Sound very intrasting. What throttle body are you going to go with?

Pitlab77 12-02-2006 12:45 PM

cool. I want to see

stock 55mm for now until I get the Hydra...then likely a 65mm.

I would still wait since BEGI is going to drill it for the 1.6L TB:)

Probably end up being at the same price anyway.

That mani is sick. I'm excited to see what your gains will be.

I'd prefer the BEGi unit... call it Texas pride :)

yeah, i want to support BEGI rather than FM. ;)

Markp 12-03-2006 04:44 PM

I'm on the waiting list too! :D

airbrush1 12-03-2006 05:06 PM

I've been interested in this manifold also...... but a bit wary because I'll have to re-work my UICP to fit, and there aren't provisions for many of the stock components.... what throttle bodies can it be drilled to accept? I'd like to go bigger than the stock 2000 1.8 if I would be going as far as changing the intake manifold.

Also, what sort of fuel rail options would I have? The ugly stocker wouldn't be my choice, I'd like the performance of an aftermarket unit... as well as the aesthetics... but don't want the hassle of adding a return line...

what are the drawbacks to this unit? And what are the solutions to those drawbacks?

Fritch 12-03-2006 06:38 PM

I'll be interested to see the results when you guys get these on. Should be very worthwhile

airbrush1 12-03-2006 11:07 PM

what manifold is that!!!!!!

cjernigan 12-03-2006 11:09 PM

Man, that is sick! Adjustable runner lengths and all(atleast it looks like it.)

jayc72 12-03-2006 11:24 PM

Didn't RJW make something like this for a coldside S/C?

Looks cool.

Jay

getsidewaysd1 12-04-2006 07:43 AM

Thats sick!

F20turbo 12-04-2006 03:39 PM

Im going to do another dyno after the manifold is on to see what kind of gains i get. Same exact boost and same exact fuel setup, etc.

Braineack 12-04-2006 04:01 PM

you're going to piss off WOT again.

Although I still like this one better.

set that guy up with a linear actuator and you could have megasquirt adjust runner length based on the load point. that would be pretty nice.

70 mm Mustang

seems like that might cause some drivability problems since you'd be flowing far more air per degree of opening. not sure i'd want to go that large on a street miata. anyone have experience with 70mm on a boosted miata?

There are only two openings I use anyway... closed and WOT. 70mm will be fine, if it's a little touchy, I'll get a VRTL from RJW.

airbrush1 12-24-2006 10:00 PM

defenitely let us know how well everything fits up! you should do a How-To for us........ with pictures..... as I'm really thinkin hard about doing this myself!

yeah, im gonna have to drill it for the PCV valve since it doesnt have a place for one, other than that mine is drilled for a 1.6L TB so it should be a fairly easy bolt on affair since I know my way around the miata engine bay:)

magnamx-5 12-25-2006 02:56 AM

Are you finally gonna install WI and do a before and after of that as well?
