Innovate Lc-1 Users - Fully adjustable output signal?

Hi, I've got a quite specific question about the Lc-1

The Zeitronix Zt-2 features a "warning output" which allows to drive a LED or a micro relay ... so when the AFR goes over a chosen value while in boost, the output can for example open a solenoid and relieve the boost pressure...

I'm building a supercharger sytem with an electrical clutch, so having such a feature would be quite nice.

So could I configure one of the LC1 analog outputs in the following way?
everything over 14AfR --->5V
everything below 14AFR--->0V

If so, could I drive an small 5v micro relay with that signal?

Thanks a lot,
Bjoern

You could but then when ever you decel fuel cut the light will go off. The best solution would be a standalone.

I think he means to disengage the clutch whenever AFR goes leaner than a certain value- in which case decel fuel cut would not be a problem, although I suspect that without some hysteresis you'd get a lot of chatter when the AFR is hovering near the setpoint.

My other concern would be the transition into boost. Assuming that your fuel system responds to MAP (and I can't think of any other way to do it) then you've got a bit of a chicken-and-egg question. The system won't add fuel unless you're in boost, but you won't be able to get into boost without the extra fuel already being there.

If it were me (and barring a standalone) I think I'd use a linear WBO2 output feeding one input of a comparator, and a MAP signal feeding the other. The system would be scaled such that when MAP = x, then AFR must < y, or else disengage the clutch. At x = 0 then AFR < 15. At x = 5, then AFR < 13. Etc...

Very interesting idea- I'll be curious to see how this plays out. What kind of supercharger and clutch are you using, exactly?

Why would you want an electric clutch on your supercharger? Are you playing out your own version of mad max?

@Joe Perez

Yes, That's the way I wanted to handle it.

I want to use either an external Pressure switch or the EMB 5V output to switch a second relay in Series at a given pressure...

...this would mean when I'm over 2psi in boost and the Wideband starts reading lean, the SC clutch will be engaged...

I do live in Gemany and the only options for used Eaton superchargers are Mercedes and Mini Cooper S. The only M64 charger available comes from the Mercedes CLK 320c and features already a 6rip pulley with an built-in electrical clutch:)

@Saml01

Yes :-)
when I saw Mad Max for the first time at the age of eleven I decided to build such a car when I'm grown up... ok, it is no V8 and the blower is invisible with the hood closed, but at least, I'll have a switch:)

Also, my girlfriend sucks at driving, so, when she HAS to drive my car, I can at least cut the hp to half...:bigtu:

I had a eaton M62 with clutch pulley (from 230SLK) fitted by me in a bimmer 318is (1.9L 140hp) with a cockpit switch. I've learned a lot building all brackets, belts ... and I was driving with it a lot with 6psi of pressure and a RRFPR:eek5:
It was a pain to make the pulleys aligned perfecly, so that the belt won't come off... but a day, even if it was great aligned, the belt came off and broke fuel lines that were going to rrfpr... I was lucky that's happened at <1 mile from home, but it was at the return from a 100mls trip:eek:

I liked the clutch option because the throttle body in my setup was post-blower, so when I left the gas a bypass valve recirculate the air from post to pre-blower.
Never dynoed the car, but I pwned friend's bmw 330i (231hp), even in straight line :bigtu: and there was no more need to downscale for taking over other cars:cool: a lot of torque al low revs and instant power , but with TB after it and a cone filter the SC was a lot noisy:) People thought that was coming a ambulance, but it was the Eaton's scream:eek5:

But I removed it because I was worried about alignement, as the car is DD, and now going old style turbo with a T3:cool:

At the end, the Innovate Lc1 manual says that the 5v output is not to be intended to feed other modules, and if doing this, it can broke:eek:

Good luck european friend, and sorry for my english, I'm Italian:bowdown:
