Innovate Motorsports LMA-3 "Aux-Box" Hook up.

Status update:

IDC: operational
RPM: not yet attempted
MAP: operational, calibration needed
2-AXIS: not yet attempted

http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/lma3.php

This thing has five internal sensors:

-Manifold Air Pressure (MAP or Boost)
-Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) or Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT)
-RPM conversion (from a tach signal or inductive clamp)
-Acceleration (2-Axis Accelerometer)
-Injector Duty Cycle (Dwell)

I searched "injectors" and found out we have high resistance. How in the heck does one go about measuring IDC with some wires? Same thing with RPM, where can I find an RPM source?

Injector Duty Cycle... I just found this:

"If you have high impedance injectors (more than about 10 Ohm resistance) connect the Chx+ to the injector signal side (the one not at 12V). Connect Chx- to ground.

On some low impedance injector systems it works. It depends on the design of the injector drivers. You can try to connect Chx+ to the 12V supply of the injectors and CHx- to the injector drive wire. Set LogWorks to positive duty cycle."

Anyone know which wire is 12v+ and which is "grounded."

RPM

No idea. Some use a safc signal, some a coil pack signal, some have to use the inductive clamp and a LMA-2 RPM converter. Is there any signal I could tap into?

MAP

Think I'm good here, just route another vacuum hose to the Aux-Box.

And acceleration numbers involve horizontal mounting and set-up stuff. I'll figure that out.

One more thing: "The AuxBox also includes 5 external inputs for connecting external sensors in lieu of the internal sensors." Anyone have an idea on something else I should log?

Thanks!

INJ: check the FSM or put a meter on the injector plug with the other lead to ground, then rotate the crank (cranking or manually) with the ignition on and watch for a trigger. If you rotate manually, make sure you've got the plug wires disconnected or ALL the injector leads unplugged.

RPM sources: there's a socket/pin market IGN in the diagnostics box, driver's side, under hood (the box you jump for setting timing). there's the lead that runs to the tach. And there's a lead at the ignitor on the pax side near the main fuse box.

Sweetness. I was sure the RPM was no way. The injector sounds easy enough, I'll test the RPM method and see if it works.

Thank you sir!!

Got IDCs to log.

Two wires to the injector, one white with red stripe, one yellow. The yellow wire gets grounded to fire the injector, so tap into that one for readings. Set the LMA-3 to read "negative."

The white/red is 12v+.

MAP works also, although the readings are in Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) so i'll have to get used to it.
