For those of you running DIY setups, where did you purchase the tube (or did you make it?) that goes just before the TB that has the:
1. IAC tube connection
2. BOV flange or stub tube
3. Nipple or threaded bung for the MBC->wastegate vacuum source

BEGi and FM seem to sell an expensive one for the MSM, but I can't find one for a 1.8L NA sold separately from their normal kits. BEGi also sells an IAT pipe with no other attachments, but I'll just tap the cold side of the IC for that fitting. "BOV pipes" can easily be found on eBay, but they don't have the other connections I would need.

Aluminum IC piping seems like it would be too thin to be able to tap, and I don't have welding skills whatsoever.

Also, is there a specific name for this part? My searches here didn't turn up anything obvious

If the pipe is to thin to tap you can always use a bulkhead fitting that basically clamps the fitting in place inside and out, but you always run the risk of the inside part falling off and going through the motor. on my set up I welded all of the connections on to the piping but that is obviously not an option for you.

Interesting idea... has anyone here actually done that? I don't know if I would trust it, but I would think gravity > airflow for moving a bulkhead nut around though.

I have seen cast aluminum elbows for sale (somewhere -- can't remember). Those would presumably be thick enough to tap.

I have thin wall alum piping and for my BOV recir I drilled a hole and then carefully filed it bigger so that a brass nipple "threaded" into it by hand. It holds for now but I am going to set it firm with epoxy soon. JBweld would also work. I would not use it on the inside incase a piece breaks off and goes into the compressor which could cause some serious bad things to happen.

I have drilled and tapped aluminum piping for wategate signal, IAC, and BOV recirc. Seems to be holding fine I added the JB to the threading when installing to give it added strength.

I just took out my knock off Greddy Bov and it has the IAC nipple welded to the pipe if you're interested in it let me know. It's about 6" long 2.5" diam. with the Greddy flange. (went with an HKS!)

Thanks for the suggestions... some of the cheap eBay "bov pipes" might be an option also if I get one thick enough to tap. That way it would have the BOV flange (the largest port) already installed. Welding wouldn't necessarily be required for something like this:

I have that same cast pipe in my car. I drilled and tapped near the flange where it was the thickest and I have had no problems so far.
