intercooler piping vs turbo outlet size vs throttle body size
So I'm still knee deep in my build. Now I have a question about my next piece I'm putting together: intercooler pipes. The turbo outlet is 2", but the intercooler inlet is 2.5". should I keep the pipe from the turbo to the IC 2" until the IC, or should i make it 2.5" as soon as possible after the turbo?
The intercooler outlet and the throttle body are both 2.5", so not an issue there, but if they were different sizes, what should be done? |
Just run 2" hotside and 2.5" cold side.

shoot.. my bad, I just saw the exact same subject on the next page. I searched for 'intercooler pipe' shoulda shearched for 'intercooler piping'.

I have the same diameters, and since I bought a 2.5" ebay piping kit, I just bought a 2-2.5" reducer so it's basically all 2.5" as soon as it exits the compressor.

Exactly what I plan to do, 2 inch hotside and 2.5 on the cold.

There will be zero power difference between 2" and 2.5" for your application. Routing the 2" piping on the hotside will be a lot easier than 2.5". The extra .5" makes big difference in clearance and fitment. Just get a 2"-2.5" coupler on the inlet to the intercooler.
