Intercooler question.

Well i decided to make up my own intercooler set up using some ebay piping. My question is what do i do with the small black pipe that is just under the throttle body entrance, can i just block it off or do i have to have it on my IC pipe?

The Idle Air Control Valve? Some people put filters on them, but I haven't done this! If you use your A/C or are still on factory ecu then I would connect it to the IC pipe

I welded a bung onto my coldside pipe to attach it.

Yes, what they said...
But this is where a short list of mods in your signature would help. Anytime people have to ask more questions in their replies to answer your question, it means you didn't give enough information. A list of mods in your signature eliminates 99% of "I'd love to answer this guys question, but he doesn't tell us anything about his build, so I'll just guess."

Thanks for the info i will update my sig. Im running a HKS turbo kit but still uses stock ecu with piggy back. Will i be able to run it with just a filter over the valve or will it play about ?

samnavy 11-08-2008 06:51 PM

The stock ECU still needs to manipulate the valve with metered air... so you must find a way to route it into the charge pipe. The stock ECU uses that valve to IDLE the car when the throttle closed. If your stock ECU is controlling idle (as with all piggybacks run in series), the car will not idle very well if at all. Standalone's can use other means to control idle, and those guys can just put a filter on that port.

Cheers for the info , got it all hooked up. Primed the system and hooray petrol coming out of top of fuel pressure regulator , swapped it round and primed again , no leaking.

Started the car and it sort of ticked over (foot on pedal needed) and then became apparent its running on 3 cylinders and wont rev up at all,o yes. No sign on FPR what the fuel rail pressure is either...

Got exhaust leak on downpipe is there some sort of gasket goo or something i can use to help make it seal?

is it tight enough? i use the orange gasket maker on everything, its the shit
