Intercooler questions

After reading Joe's "boost sag" stickied thread a few times I just want to make sure I am doing it right. Just to start off I will give my setup details. ARTech hotside, Tial 38mm MV-S that is VTA, 3" downpipe, MSPNP MSII board, with a chinacharger. Right now I do not have a MBC, later down the road I was planning on either buying one or attempting to make my own. I don't really want to mess with that right now. So in his diagrams there are points A, B, and C. My first question is, even with no MBC should I still pull the wastegate signal at point B (before TB)?

Also my second and third questions regard my BOV and AIT sensor. I want to install both of those onto my intercooler endtank, on the "cold side." There are no major reasons why I want to do this, I just want to. I think I read putting the AIT sensor there will help if you have heatsoak issues. Are there any issues as far as the BOV is concerned being placed there?

Thanks for help with my :noob: questions, my first turbo'd car.

Yes you still want to pull your signal for wastegate from "b".

I don't think there will be any problems having both the BOV and AIT sensor in intercooler endtank.

yes. no.

that was only two questions.

Thanks Lars, there was a third question, but I edited the message and must have left it out.

fwiw, AIT on coldside endtank is ideal.

put bov on the hotside endtank.
put ait on coldside endtank
plumb boost/vac line right before tb.
win

Cool thank you, I will get a bung a get it welded in. I wonder if Napa would have aluminum weld in bungs, I might have to take a trip down to the local Napa.

Depending on how thik the tanks are you might not even need bungs

Well I thought about asking if I could just tap the tank, but I don't know how thick it is. It will be my first step. If that is the case could I do the same thing with the BOV, if its a two bolt style flange, just tap the tank and mount it directly onto it. I think that would be a little more difficult because of the size. I will look into both of those.

I pulled the source for my boost gauge and MS after the throttle body, I know the MS install instructions say to pull off one of the nipples used for cruise control. And I figured getting the boost reading from the manifold would be ideal because that is what the engine is actually seeing. Is this the right thinking?

Best source is at the back of the manifold. Past the tb there might be some turbulance and throw readings off from time to time.

Braineack 07-22-2011 07:35 AM

BOV is fine right off the the TB on one of those nipples.

MS is going to want to be teed of the FPR, that's the cleanest source.
