Intercooler set up for 92 1.6 turbo
 

Hello all I am a new member to this forum but not new to the world of misted. This is my second turbo car and my third miata in all, and I'm only 22 years old. But my question is this I am looking for a semi cheap intercooler setup and I'm not having much luck does anyone know any places to get one? The car is a 92 miata with a 1.6, thanks in advance my name is jason

Wow fuck all of u! I thought this would be a chill forum to sign up for but I see it's full of assholes. Yes I'm a noob to this particular forum but I know a fair amount about cars, so the fact I asked a question my first time ever even on this website does not warrant comparing me to some idiot that thinks everything on the fast and the furious is the way of the car world. I'm still trying to familiarize myself with the setup here. I really do appreciate the help and "quick list" of places to check out. I had done some research prior and I had only found the do-it-yourself kits on eBay and the flyin miata one which is $$ so I'm sorry for being a noob in your territory or whatever but just remember noone is born knowing everything there is to know and everybody including all of you who are attacking my new meat ass, were in fact a noob at one time. Just tKe it easy and try to understand before y'all come off as assholes in the first 4 hours of seeing this place. I also understand that I should have searched the forums for an answer first I just knew that you guys would be super quick to answer and I'm at work. I'm just trying to figure out why you wasted your time to write the people that pissed you off a novel sob story. 90% of ICs for miata's are DIY so just look at some build threads and figure out what you'd like to do. I have a simple over the top mount(also for sale) that a lot of people like for simplicity and throttle response so I would look for something similar if I were you.

Wait. All of that but you cant figure out how to get the air from point A to point B? If you searched I would imagine you would have pulled up numerous build threads with all the info you need. Some of us even post the size pipes, couplers, and clamps needed to DIY. As far as IC's go, you should also have read that most of us are using anything but a "FM" or "name brand".

Seeing that you have a 1.6, check out FM's silicone IC pipes. They cost a bit more, but they're fucking tits. I love them. Another $125 or so for a CXRacing IC and you'll be good to go. After having 3 or 4 different IC setups myself, that's my best recommendation.

Awesome I'm checking into that now. Next time I will search the forums first then ask for clarification haha.

OP, to succeed on this forum you need to search, read and then read again. Try google search, much better than the crappy search function on the forum.
I have been a member since 2006 and only have a post count of 200 ish. I have owned 4 Miatas since then and have done a crap load of stuff using info on this site. Don't post till you can honestly say you have read all you could find or you have some wonderful technical discovery that would contribute to the knowledge base on this forum.
Very rarely should you have to ask a question that has not been answered 50 times in the past week. That is where the intolerance comes from.
It also helps to spell correctly and carry a tube of vaseline at all times. These guys arn't the easiest crowd at time but they know what they are talking about and deal with newbs all day long.
Just wait a while and you too will be enjoy laughing at NEWBS on your lunch break!

I know the BEGI or FM intercoolers seem expensive, but try to find one used. It is your best deal. I almost always prefer to fab something myself, but dealing with the confined space of a miata engine compartment and squeezing in something like an intercooler can be harder than it looks. I am a cheap bastard too, thats why I keep my eyes open for good used parts.

:doh: First of all I'd like to appologize for the immaturiety level I have previously shown, I was a little late on reading the sticky thread for noobs just like me in the m&g. That was one of the best writeups I have read and I feel I understand way more about the working of this whole thing. :facepalm:
