Default Need a new motor, 1.6 Automatic available

My shortblock is a mess, (damaged pistons). There is an automatic engine available for cheap locally.

I know the specs of the auto motor, lower compression and cam timing etc, but what are the downsides to using this motor in a turbo application?

What about using this shortblock with the manual trans head or cams?

The motor is just $250 and 116K miles.

Default Cams Better?

So your saying the cams are better because the timing is set for more torque.

I had always thought that turbo engines started with lower compression so it sound like a good choice to me.

Sounds like you agree?

Actually I see now, I would have better low down torque and power under boost.

yep, local guy with a greddy kit here had a great torque curve after tossing in an auto motor.
