FYI, there's no more than the normal amount of shaft play.

Yeah... That's not right... Sounds like the compressor wheel is all over the inlet. Any marks?

Nope, no marks or more than normal shaft play.

Sounds like a rebuild in your immediate future.

Have anything to do with this ad?https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/t31387/ It got jealous becuase it heard you were trying to step out on it so it threw a fit.

Have you checked the backside of the turbo to see what it looks like?

A bearing doesn't really have to have play to be worn out, or damaged. Sounds like rebuild time, or a new turbo.

Woah dude whats the sound of death. Seeing the oil on the compressor inlet is all the more convincing.

Supposedly this shop in Miami rebuilds them, but for $250-300 I'm not sure it's even worth it.

I dunno, I figured they could be. Seems like Ive seen them rebuilt. Surely the BB assembly is removable from the CHRA somehow... isnt it just a cartridge pressed in or something? Cant say Ive seen a BB turbo apart, plenty of sleeves though.
