hey. im wondering how "good" the quality is on these parts... i know you get what you pay for but im trying to do a budget build...

Everything sold on eBay is absolute crap. Until you know enough to know which parts AREN'T crap, you should just assume everything is crap.

You should also stop posting immediately, because one forum down from this one there's a sticky regarding this exact topic which you either haven't seen (bad) or chose to ignore (really bad). The members here don't take kindly to these kinds of threads. You should make an intro thread and then do a lot of reading before asking any more questions.

This is funny.

I happen to have spent the last two days reviewing a 3" (no lie) stack of drawings from our vendors in China. They of course use the metric system, and we have to approve the conversions on their drawings to make sure it still meets our tolerances. Otherwise they would get the go ahead to produce umpteen billion parts, ship them across the damn Pacific Ocean, where they're then received into our warehouse, and we wouldn't realize they're wrong until OUR Quality Control Dept. finally gets around to checking the material specs and dimensions...at which point we have to red tag it, pull the crap back out of bin locations, put it in a sea crate and ship it all the way back to Red China.

This happens a LOT...which is why we now have someone from engineering reviewing drawings instead of the lazy QC bastards. I can not convey to you the amount of stupid errors I see in what is essentially a copy of our existing designs....half the time they can't even trace right. These are parts we've been making for years...and we send them our part, along with our drawings, and they still goof it.

Read the description on the first link you posted and tell me if you really believe that wastegate is their design. If not, then are you convinced they were able to accurately copy someone else's design? The second scenario is most probable, and I have a stack of non-approved schematics that say they likely fucked something up, and that wastegate wont work/won't work for long.

Enjoy your stay here. Start an intro thread in the MeetNGreet forum, and read all the stickies.

Welcome.

So you're looking for an external wastegate that won't fit the internal wastegate manifold you want to buy? If you want to make your life easy, I have a HKS manifold, T25 turbo, custom divorce gas downpipe, intake, etc for sale in the for sale thread. They aren't cheap parts, and they all work / fit together.

ok so i guess that the ebay stuff is not to good to buy then... is there any wastegate that you guys would recomend? i see that alot of people are using a "tial" WG...

the manifold... is that any good? my plan is to chop off the t28 flange and weld on a diffrent one to fit my turbo... and while im at it ill add a WG flange too...

A Tial wastegate will cost you about 2x all of the ebay items you just posted. And by the time you hack up the egay manifold change flanges, add a wastegate, then build yourself a down pipe to match only to find it still cracks because its made from material that is too thin you may as well have started from scratch.

1 You don't need an External wastegate.

2 dustinb's setup for sale looks like it would be perfect for you and will save you money and time in the long run.

i DO need and external WG cause the turbo i have has no WG... its MENT to have an external one...

why would i spend all that money and only use two parts out of it... thats stupid...

ok so the ebay manifold is crap... is there any place that sells flanges to make your own? are the ebay ones ok if i get one like 1/2 inch thick?

Im a firm believer in the CX racing/ebay BOV, better luck with them than the band name ones personally, but anyways search or you might get banned.

That exact turbo kit is what I started with and that's why I went with QUALITY parts from Flyin Miata, stuff that actually fits and bolts together like it's supposed to and doesn't crack or break. Don't be a smacked *** and waste your money, that's the moral of the story.

Ebay intercooling pipes aren't too bad, neither is the intercooler. Or atleast I haven't had problems with them. But as far as manifolds and wastegates. I'd stay away. Apexi turbo timers do work and have been working for me. It was only 30 bucks, and was the same one AMS sells for 100 bucks. The knock off ssqv super sequential blow off valve is preety decent once you get past the terrible boost leak they ship it with (flange did not seal worth a crap) had to use a real hks flange which by design is quite different than the flange they ship it out with. But as far as the bov itself, it works amazingly and sounds great. So its kinda hit or miss if your shopping for e bay aftermarket car parts. Thats just my .02 on ebay items

Ok my bad I didn't know that your turbo wasn't internally gated. What turbo is it? If it's nothing special then consider getting an internally gated T25 because they're 10 a penny. An external waste gate is going to bump up the budget dramatically and I doubt you are going to have boost control issues.

If you want flanges the check out weirtech he does stainless and mild flanges for the head, turbo, wastegates and anything else you may want and he is very very cheap.

I used a cast 1.6 T3 manifold (ebay) for my build. It should work fine (until it cracks?) but ran in to problems immediately. You cannot use the center 2 upper nuts b/c it didn't have the clearance between the stud and casting. We had to back out the studs, GRIND the manifold some to gain clearance, then use some bolts. And the center lower nut was a PITA to get on as it also was very tight. Other than brand names off ebay, my CX intercooler, oil cooler, and godspeed radiator were the only 'cheap' things. The cooler is being moved and will NOT be resting on the intercooler pipes...

You can see the 2 bolts I am referring too...

BOV means blow off valve not Waste Gate. I think a lot of people here will back me up when I say that the eBay wastegates are pretty ****. One other option is to check out ATP and grab a stainless internaly gated turbine housing Ooooooo shiny.
