K&N/Filters - What good ?
So, what's a really good filter to get for the Greddy ?
I'm going to clock the turbo and couple the AFM directly onto the turbo inlet, so the filter would be pointing front towards the rad. Either that of get a 90 bend and place it over behind the headlight....but I'd prefer to keep the intake straight. This one any good ? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MAZDA...spagenameZWDVW |
i used those intakes forever and never had problems. although hks intakes do look sexy and are way smaller.

be careful it clears the hood

ru-5111 K&N

aem dryflow?
|
So which would be better, the AEM Dryflow or the K&N ?
I'm not gone on the idea of having to oil the filter etc. |
BuMp?
:yippee: |
Ok so I got a new K&N RU-5111 filter.
What's all this about having to oil the thing ? Does it come pre-oiled cause I don't have that 'special' K&N oil to put on it. Would WD40 do ? |
it comes preoiled.
when you need to clean it, advanced auto & autozone sell recharge kits, with a special cleaner and oil to use. |

usualy every 20-30K miles or 33-50K KM depending on how dirty the air it pulls through is.

Hi, I had a eaton supercharger in another car that with some brands/models of filter was louder, and with other brands/model of conical filters it was quieter.
It's the same with turbo? If yes, which are louder and wich are quieter? thank you:bigtu: |
If you want a cheap disposable cylindrical filter check out the '88 prelude SI filters... they are like $6 and have enough surface area that the should flow great up to 200+ HP. That's probably what I'll run initially to keep costs down.

Cool guys, thanks for all the info !
|
I went to autozone with the dimensions of the filter that I wanted (shape, diameter, pipe size, etc) and they were able to match up exactly what I wanted and ordered it for me. It was here in two days and it saved me the trouble of searching for the right part number myself.

K&n (www.knfilters.com) has a really good universal filter finder.
|
I got the K&N RU-5111 from FleaBay.
It even came with some free stickers, a baseball cap and a mag ! |
Sorry to bring up such an old thread.
I'm assuming the greddy kit comes with some sort of colar adapter to stick it in the AFM. Will this adapter be a plug and play for the K&N RU-5111? I have one of these (below), on my very soon (waiting on some parts from FM...) to be turbo car, which is what is more often seen in NA cars. Will this one be a major restriction when compared to the shitty filter that comes with the greddy? better? worse? http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=57-0348 thx in advance people |
