K03 on Miata?
I have a turbo from my friends old 1.8t Jetta the turbo has 100k miles on it but I can buy a rebuild kit. I assume k03's on miatas is uncommon what parts would I need to get fabbed I know I'll need a manifold and downpipe custom made but what else would I need?

making a bunch of stupid threads asking really stupid lazy questions about crappy turbos that no one uses outside the cesspool that is the vw scene is not gonna end well for you here.

need bags. and stretched tires. and negative camber.
stickers....everywhere. illest, most disease, fatlace, uglyface, slammed in the pooper society, the works need "if you aint rubbin, you aint dubbin" banner you need all those things |
Depending on how the compressor outlet is positioned, you might need to play with some funny intercooler piping.
Other than making a manifold and a DP, its pretty straight forward. Learn how to make AN lines to make the oil feed line, the drain is probably similar. I have no idea how this turbo stacks up in terms of size compared to a Garret GT2554/60. I googled it for 3 minutes, and it seems to be about the same size as an SR T25. I don't understand entirely why everyone is flaming this guy. I understand that there's a lot of effort involved with making this turbo work. If you want the easy route, go MK TURBO, or get a taco taco T25 with an SR20 T25 turbo (and figure out your own exhaust). |
we don't tolerate stupid lazy questions here because the exact same one has been answered at least 5 billion times, and asked at least 10 billion times.
you're a n00b, so to you it seems like we're just all flaming n00bs all the time. when you're here a few years, you'll not only understand, but join in. whether you agree now or not |

you're a n00b, so to you it seems like we're just all flaming n00bs all the time. when you're here a few years, you'll not only understand, but join in. whether you agree now or not I understand that people ask dumb questions without doing their own research first, and that they should learn to do their own research. I fully support that ideology. However I do not support needlessly being an ass to someone. How about you just don't take out your inner anger on internet "n00bs", and leave it to someone else to answer their questions? You've established a culture here of elitism. Its disgusting to see how people are treated when they ask the wrong questions. |
How about get the hell out of here then.
I established nothing. I uphold standards this site was built with. Before you even had a drivers license. |
Eh, Vlad. You can be wicked harsh sometimes. Fuck... I'd know, right? lol.
Byte, I think you missed his intro thread: https://www.miataturbo.net/diy-turbo...3/#post1450259 That's part of the reason with the short fuse, if I had to guess. The first stuff on this site about building a turbo miata is not to start with a turbo to build a kit around... unless it's a good turbo and not a random one from a random car that you don't know anything about putting together. I think that you're smart, which is why this is obvious to you and why you've fucked around with enough shit on your car to make things work. I.e. you have initiative. Someone coming in with no idea what turbo they have and no idea what they need fabbed up is a bit beyond your scale. If you were giving advice to your past self, i.e. when you first started down this rabbit hole, then your advice would be well met. Right now I think you're just wasting your breath a bit unfortunately. |
there's no need to wonder what this site would be like if we didn't maintain standards.
just open m.net or cr.net and see a living example. if you like it, go there and enjoy. don't waste your time here. |
The K03 is a Piece of animal feces disguised as a turbo, its not worth any amount of time to make such a thing work.

Anyone that has to ask what it would take to make a random turbo no one has ever used work, isn't in the position to make it work regardless of what information they are given.

I have a K04 on my miata. It spools pretty nice, but if you don't have the skills to weld the manifold and downpipe yourself it isn't worth it in my mind. Plus you have to rebuild the k03. You can get t25 turbos sub $100 bucks on craigslist.
